Nice. I went to GG last week to check out the Ryder Cup gear and it was weak. Maybe with covid they didn’t produce a bunch but I wanted a hat like the one I had in 2016 or 18. Can’t find them anymore and I don’t like the current hats that I saw.

Got these headcovers in 2 days from Amazon.

Love our chances !
Do you really? On paper, they should win; but that's true pretty much every year.
I think the PGA screwed up by picking this course. It's going to be windy, and there's not much Stricker can do about widening fairways or growing rough in strategic areas like they did in 2012 and 2016. Seems like the course will play into the Euro's hands.

The wind is supposed to lay down by the weekend.
This course can play long which should benefit us and it is supposed to cool off too which should help our big hitters.
A lot of our guys have experience with the course.

I thought the same.
The US needs the longest, softest course available, with raised greens and no options for run-up shots.
Omaha Country Club, where they played the Senior Open would be perfect. Don’t know how long they could make that place, but the elevation changes with soft conditions would have been ideal. We need a high ball flight course with lots of carry
ETA: OCC only 6800 yards , LOL. Scratch that

They really just need a traditional American PGA championship type course with wide fairways. Hazeltine was perfect. They cut the rough 300 yards from the tee, and put the pins in the middle of the greens. Whistling Straits is links style with bunkers being the key obstacle off the fairways (and some rough). There's not as much they can do setup wise to gain an advantage. This doesn't mean the US won't win...this team has 8 of the top 10 players in the world and would be favored on any course. I also like the fact that there are 6 rookies on this US team who haven't experienced the letdowns of the Tiger/Phil era. We'll see, I just wish this cup was at a different course.

Do they play the bunkers as waste areas or hazards?

Hazards, as Dustin Johnson found out the hard way back in 2010.

You sure? I thought they changed the local rules there because of that. Kinda like Pinehurst 2.
ETA: You’re right: “ While these are the same guidelines that were in play in the previous PGAs at Whistling Straits, this is a departure from the 2021 PGA Championship, also run by the PGA of America and also played at a Pete Dye design (the Ocean Course at Kiawah), where all sandy areas were played as waste areas, allowing players to ground their clubs. The Ryder Cup note ends by imploring players to consult a referee should there be any question.”

It's weird not having Tiger or Phil not playing.

Americans have absolutely dominated the Open Championship where it is typically the windiest course played all year. If Americans lose, it won’t be because of the course.
