Hey y'all,

I bought these on eBay last night and only this morning realized there might be something wrong with them. The white Mizuno logo on the backs of the clubs is what is throwing me off. All the other 919 forged I've seen in person and online have no white painting inside the Mizuno logo, while these do. The seller seems to sell legit golf gear and has good feedback, so I don't think he is trying to run a scam operation. I'm hoping these were like a "show" set and that's why the logo is white (along with the few scuff marks). Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Honestly it just looks like someone did a little paintfill on the Mizuno logo.

So you're thinking they're legit? I can always return them once I get the set, so unless they are clearly fakes I think I'll see how the feel and look once I get them in person

I think they are legit, as said below it looks like someone just added some paint fill. The shafts are great, I’m playing them at the moment.

There should be a serial # on the head. You can call mizuno to verify if they’re real.

Awesome, thank y'all so much. I'll give Mizuno a call once I get the clubs in hand.

UPDATE: the seller looked for serial number and couldn’t find any. I think I’m going to just cancel the order and not mess with this

Just tell the seller you need to confirm authenticity with a serial number or you’ll have to cancel

That's weird. A /r/golf post just popped up for an MP-20 HMB set with the same white paint fill and no serial number.

Wonder if it's the same seller

I would lean fake. My concerns are the shafts, grips, and ferrules. I build and repair clubs and see some really good fakes. From the pics, these look really good.

The first thing I noticed was the step pattern of the shafts is off, but it is hard to tell from the pics. From my memory, the shafts should have some smaller steps closer to the grip. Most of the fake sets I have seen have NS Pro or True Temper S300. I think they all use the same shaft but with different labels.

I think the grips are fake. I don’t remember seeing Mizuno offer that type of grip. If they did, it is old. On recent sets, I believe Mizuno doesn’t shrink wrap the grips. They put a loose plastic sleeve over the grips. The clubs could have been reshafted, but Mizuno uses taller ferrules and not short ones.

The finish on the faces and the leading edge do seem off. It could be the pics, but the finish on the face does look too dark.

There should be a serial number on every club. I just checked a set of MP 20s and everyone has a serial number.

also, my 919 Tours have a serial number just above the Grain Flow Forged stamp that's pretty visible. I'd imagine the real 919 Forged version has the same. Mizuno's default grips for these are the Golf-Pride MCC plus-4s which that is not.

probably a good call to back off

Yes, the 7i shouldn’t be wider than the 8i
