The new mallard golf club opens this weekend in lake Charles, I’ll be playing Sunday and report back. From reading in the site, it’s intriguing for this type of play.

Looking forward to the report. Didn't realize they were opening so soon.

Alright, the course description says it’s sort of a Scottish tribute, I can confirm.

We haven’t had rain in about a week here, but the course was for sure firm, assuming it stays like that, the ball would bounce several times on a drive and roll out some. Very links-ish.

Greens were firm as well, it was tough to hold the green if you carried pin high, for me at least. They rolled great, tons of undulation.

I believe the fairways were Bent grass, it was a first for me.

Overall I think it was great, definitely different than anything in the lake area, I look forward to playing only again.

Is this the old Mallard Cove course?

How does it look compared to the old course?

A brand new course was built in a new location to replace the old course that was sold to Chennault. Not comparable.

Oh wow, very cool. Where is this one located?

What happened to the old course that was Mallard Cove?

Chennault has taken in the land from the old course for expansion.

New course is located in the new Morganfield area, southeast Lake Charles.

New greens will have more bounce in them, give them a little time to settle in and they will start receiving shots better!

Just booked a tee time for late morning Sunday. Super excited. Hopefully it's better than The National.

My biggest gripe about the National is that they don't take the best care of it. It's a fun track but the last time a played it had rained the day before and was still very wet and they let carts on the course and it just got sloppy. It definitely wasn't worth the $70.

Chennault paid for it… guess they just carried over the same prices, or close at least
