PGA should revoke the memberships of all players that signed with liv, and do everything they want to make these players regret it.

I'll keep my opinion. You keep yours. Go about your day now.

I think it's gonna get really slippery when the major tournaments decide to ban any LIV players. That's gonna open up a whole mess. The US Open and Open Championship would no longer be open events if they banned these guys. I'd like to see the Masters do something like award the top 5 money winners on the LIV tour with an invitation. If one of the 5 already has an exemption for being a past champion, then there would only be four spots. Of course, all past champions are still invited. I think there are six on the LIV tour now. It seems as if the guys that have a major in their back pocket are gambling that the majors will still be open to them. I don't think Cam Smith would be thinking of joining had he not won the Open.

The issue is that no one knows the staying power or the real interest of the LIV organization. They have no developmental plans for young players like the Tour does.

When does the shotgun starts, teams and the novelties wear off .

So they come in and do major damage to the PGA Tour by buying the best players which could cost the Tour major sponsors and TV revenue.

The the tournament sites and local charities suffer.

In 2008 with the market crash and companies pulled back resources, several venues lost sponsors.

Luckily the Tour was well run and it had backup resources to self sponsor these venues for a couple of years.

So what happens when one day the Saudi's say , golf bores us so shut it all down.

Then what ?

If Tour players really want change, they have the power to change the Tour and it's leaders. They sit on the Board.

Having to play 15 tournaments is nothing.

They get pampered from the time they arrive to the time they leave a site.

I’m figuring they only filed this so the judge can delay a trial and give access to the players while it’s going on. So naw my mind will not explode.

Did the PGA Tour have a development plan in place for young players when it began? Competition drives innovation in the market. That’s a basic tenet of economics. You want to watch golf fail? Continue with the product the PGA TOUR ropes out every weekend. Nothing exciting to me about the PGA Tour. Maybe the Tour hopes once every 15 years there’s some type of talented individual that they can ride the shoulders of to make billions?

Not true

Relevance?

quote:

The the tournament sites and local charities suffer.

Im certainly sympathetic to that, but why does LIV care? They're an enterprise.

quote:

If Tour players really want change, they have the power to change the Tour and it's leaders. They sit on the Board.

Again, just not true.

quote:

They get pampered from the time they arrive to the time they leave a site.

And now the ones that decided to go to LIV get pampered even more. I'll let you know you appointed yourself the czar of pampering though and you've ruled the Tour is enough

You say things aren't true, yet you provide no evidence to support your assertion. Typical NCY mentality.

Although you didn't address your post to me directly, I'll reply. I played golf for 45 years before lower back issues and a couple of other physical ailments caused me to have to give up the game. My lowest handicap was a 3 which I maintained for a couple years. Getting married resulted in a rise in my handicap and a reduction in the number of rounds I was able to play. The score I'm most proud of is a +1, 73 on the Eisenhower Blue Course at the Air Force Academy. My best off the course experience was being able to work golf tournaments as a scorer/spotter for all three major networks.

I went to the AF academy golf camp. It was awesome. I was going to go there, but my eyes wouldn’t let me. That was my first experience with bentgrass, and it was a disaster.

When did you go to the Academy golf camp? I was stationed at the Academy from '72 - '78 and was stationed in Colorado Springs from '72 to my retirement in '86 with the exception of one year. The Blue course was once ranked in Golf Digest's Top 100 courses and is a Robert Trent Jones design. Like you, the Academy's greens drove me crazy. I swear I never had a straight putt longer than 2 feet.

It was probably in 91 or 92. We played the blue course and maybe the silver, if there was a silver course. Gene Miranda was the golf coach at the time.

There is a Silver course. It's a lot shorter than the Blue, but as you know it's imperative to keep the ball in play. Working in the Athletic Dept I knew Gene very well. I haven't seen him since I was forced to quit playing.

Unlike you I'm proud that I served. You probably never served a minute in your life.
