So when you say that you learned to use the bounce, are you sweeping it or hitting down on it ?

It's more of a sweep. The key to using bounce is not having a lot of forward shaft lean at impact, which means you can't play the ball back in the stance. Also if the club face is slightly open that increases the bounce.

Ya, it’s pretty much the opposite of what you’re initially taught about short game shots. Hold the face open as you go through. Little to no divot and it really spins.

Check out this piece by Adam Scott in GD from a few years ago. Everything becomes more “neutral” and your margin for error is a lot more. It’s still a descending blow and one my my focal points is holding the “v” in my right wrist through impact, you’re still sliding the leading edge under the ball, but your attack angle is shallower. I still get tons of check with this method. Prob more because my impact is better. I still use the smash shot when I need it, but usually when I have a perfect fairway lie with a little cushion.. not the super tight lie.

A really good player can hit that shot with any bounce and any loft between 52-60

Bounce does matter but if you are a stick it is minuscule. I played golf for 32 years and was a high school AA and player college golf at Arizona and played mini tour and Monday qualifiers...

Gimme the wedge and let me dig my feet in and it’s gonna result is a shot inside 8 feet 90% of the time

“Really Good Player” and “Stick” doesn’t describe most of the guys on here or in the world of golf, so using the bounce is a better method for the avg golfer.

I've been using a 58 degree K grind out of soft sand my last few outings and it's resulted in 100% success at getting it out of the bunker on the first try. Got it used on Ebay for like 60 bucks. I had been using an S grind with 8 degrees of bounce and too often the club would dig and it would take me several shots to exit the bunker and extreme frustration.

The K grind has 14 degrees of bounce. It just plops the ball right out every time, and I still very much suck at golf. Haven't used it on hard pan yet.

Today was my first round with the 60* PM Grind and it was flawless. Zero bad shots today with it. Played it from the fairway twice from 79 and 74 and hit it to within 6 feet both times. Really liking it so far, but I could have a horrible round with it next time out. It has 12* of bounce.

At first I thought you were saying these were your bounces.

The problem is your loft. Lack Of Friggin Talent.... is what my friends used to tell me

Keep your head still through impact and most of your problems will go away. If you keep your head still, the club head will usually return to it's set up point.
