I ONLY bring my own beer to the course... not because it is snobbish (Ultra, when I'm playing)...but because after dropping $60+ on a round and another $5-$10 on a bucket.. I'm not trying to spend $4 per beer when I can buy them at the store for $1 each and save another $30 or so.
I can assure you from years working in a Pro Shop in high school and college... these places aren't paying the bills with beer sales so I don't feel guilty one bit.
So if a friend invites you to his club (BRCC, CCL, Oakbourne, NOCC or LCCC) and you pay the $100+ green fee. You sneaking beer on the course?

I have only played one course that charged $6 for a beer and it was a Top 50 course and a craft beer.
Well shite man play golf outside of south Louisiana sometime.
Half the courses in Dallas are selling bud lite for $6!

It is so trashymit is against the law in some states.
I know cause Ohio is one of them signs posted everywhere at most courses.

Or just enjoy one of those fine courses and drink one beer max. I'm not against drinking during a round but sneaking your own beer in is trash as frick.

I typically try to buy a few beers (if they have a decent selection) or maybe a Blood Mary. I just can’t stand light beer. If all you have are 4$ Ultras, Bud and Miller, I’m bringing my own beer.
This is where I'm at.

I get the sneaking it on to public and semi private courses, it's still trashy but I get it.
Sneaking it on to a private course when invited by a member is about as bad as it gets IMO. If you're too cheap to pay for a couple $4 Bud lights then just stay at your local shitty muni

Only did it once. Backwoods Bastard on Beaver Creek, hammered drunk by the 9th hole. It was trashy I admit. But it was Backwoods Bastard so I wont apologize

Very honest and self shaming.. I forgive you, you’ve got potential for golf course redemption. Upvote young fella

Lol, I really enjoy backwoods bastards and many other stouts and barley wine style beers but I could never imagine drinking that on the golf course

I bring crown in a flask and buy coke as I play

Sneaking beer onto a municipal course or public track is a right of passage. As you said though, big no no on anything private.
