Call at 8 am on Wednesday but good luck usely these times are reserved for the old members
They don't reserve them. The old men all have alarms on their phones and call at the first possible time in advance....to the minute.

Played SM today. Outside of the hole 11 green which obviously has been punched recently, the course was in great shape.
Paid $44. I’m not sure how anyone can complain about conditions or price.

Ahhhh, there is the secret. They don't tell you this. It is not the same noon opening for other days of the week.
I would hop on early in the morning, then tried 10:00, got distracted, went back at 1:00 and it's all gone. Have to set a phone reminder at 11:55 I guess

Let me address a few things to this discussion.
1. SM is probably in as good a shape as it’s been in years. There is a constant project always going on. For the first time in a long time, the BREC office is actually green lighting some projects that are needed.
2. Even though the tee sheet is full most mornings, if you show up and can wait a little while, you can get worked in. Be patient.
3. FYI - last year, SM hosted well over 50,000 rounds. That takes a toll on a course.
Enjoy SM. And by the way, to help out, fix your divots, repair ball marks, throw your trash in the receptacles and generally do your part to take care of the course.

Care to mention any of these projects?

Fairways and greens right now or the best I’ve seen them. The bunkers are another story entirely.

1. New net on the driving range
2. Irrigation pumps fixed
3. Trees being trimmed/removed
4. Former superintendent let go

The super was let go? That’s kind of hard to do at BREC. I imagine he was ‘reassigned’?

That’s impressive. At least that means it’s changing for the better. Now if we could get a marshall to remind everyone to keep the carts on the paths around the greens and tee boxes, sand divots, fix pitch marks, and keep up pace of play it may be enjoyable again.

They break the rules and block off times for certain regulars.
Particularly at Santa Maria.
Worst kept secret ever.
