Playing Bluffs tomorrow in the Matt Flynn Invitational. Hopefully it’s better than when i played it last summer. It was as bad as I’ve ever seen it.

Will report back on conditions

I am playing in that also. I played in a scramble up there about 5 weeks ago. I usually play 3-4 scrambles up there a year. Course was in as good of a condition as I had seen it in a while (years). I don't really hold holes 2 and 3 against the course since they routinely get flooded away. It will be interesting going forward to see what the HOA can do with the course.

Just got back from Bluffs

Greens surprisingly good (def upgrade over the last 9 months)
Fairways were mostly good
Bunkers were absolute shite
Tee boxes weren’t that good
Gnats stacked Golfers fricked

I really want the conditions of this course back to where they were years ago. I love that layout.

Amber romance. Kept them off with two applications. Greens were a little slicker than the last time I played. Had fun!

Amazon. You can get lotion or perfume. It is made by victoria secret. You'll smell like a stripper but you won't have gnat issues.

Avon Skin so soft used to do the same thing for gnats.

Weren’t that bad a few days ago when I played there.

Greens were decent but some were hard and some were sponges. Rolled good but had some bad bumpy areas.

Bunkers were hit or miss. Most were bad from what I saw.

Fairways good.

Tees good enough.

Let them grass in if you can’t maintain. Bunkers in Louisiana are super labor intensive. The sand isn’t cheap either.

Just do away with them.

I played Sharks Tooth in Florida and was talking to the super about bunkers. He said Norman went crazy with bunkers out there, and I don't disagree. The super's complaint was that they were having to spend so much time maintaining bunkers that weren't actually in play.

At this point in my golf life, with golf economy the way it is, if most golfers can't get into the bunker off the tee or it doesn't provide anything of significance, let em go.

Agreed. If you need a penalty it would seem cheaper to plant some trees there and let bunkers grass in. I don't really even critique courses for bad bunkers anymore. The designers just got all of it wrong by putting so many in Louisiana with all of our rain. Especially with the giant lips/edges.

Listened to a podcast with Tom doak about what they are doing to Memorial in Houston.

He said minimal bunkers. Bunkers are easy for really good players and hard for bad players. Grassy rough areas are tough for pros.

Plus most “fairway” bunkers are really yards deep in the rough and not really in the fairway. Most are for looks I think.

Exactly. Many times I am playing with someone and they complain about a bunker and I am like you are in an area that should be a damn red stake The bunker was there for looks only.
