Greystone - Hole 4

Have any of you even gotten on the green in two from the gold or black tees?
It just seems damn near impossible to me. You’d have to hit the perfect slice off the tee, then the perfect hook on your second shot. I try the tee shot sometimes during scrambles and it almost never works.

It’s almost never worth trying in my opinion (for me at least). Doable? Yes. Worth triple or worse 4 holes into my round? No. Just play for par and move on.

Club Pro has a Double Eagle on that hole.
I cut that corner once and was on upper deck- - hit a perfect “power” draw 3w that had me about 6” off green. Best I’ve ever come and nothing close to that is even my normal play on that hole.

I’ve done it once… from gold. And it was by sheer accident. Hit an absolute thinned missile stinging slice that curved around that corner and landed perfectly in place setting me up for an attempt with 3w. Hit and absolute perfect draw landing it short of the green but managed to get it to roll up in the very front… pin was on the back left corner that day so naturally I 3 putted ..

Couldn’t agree more. If I could get the tee shot down and land on the other side of the ditch reliably, I’m pretty good at hooking my 3 wood on demand.

The tee shot is hit over the trees on the right with a fade. Then the second shot would be hit over the trees on the lef, doesn't have to draw, just have to have enough room to get the ball up and over the trees in front of you. I've seen it done, but never in a one man, one ball round. It's always a scramble when someone tries it. I"ve seen plenty of attempts fly directly into the trees on that second attempt.

Pro is also a lefty so, drawing the corner is a bit easier than fading the corner.
4 is a great hole to be happy with par and move on .

My last two times playing it
-great drive, 5w to four feet, made birdie
-hooked driver, tried to draw 3w that I thinned into the abyss, took drop, 56* over back of green, chipped it 20’ past the hole, 3 putt.
I hate that hole and #10

I've started treating 10 like a bogey hole. The back has more scoring opportunities after 10, so I take my licks.
Straight and short off the tee, layup, over ditch and hope I'm close on the approach, 2-putt at worse. Get lucky or have a great approach and it's a par. But never a double or worse.

Yeah, I don’t have those shots. I can’t get over the trees with my driver or 3 wood off the tee, and definitely can’t get over the woods left on my approach.

Yeah every time I attempt to do that it goes horribly wrong.. Thats why I never use a good ball if I'm attempting it.. I also stopped hitting driver there.. It's usually 7w or hybrid of the tee and land near the red tee box.. then go from there..

Thats why i said it was by sheer accident.. My initial plan was to hit one across the canal/ditch (whatever it is) there to be on the other side... Shot just went terribly wrong but worked out like i knew what i was doing... and yeah in a scramble it's definitely the most accurate of the group lays up.. then the others swing for the fences and hope someone gets lucky

Same, except I try to get past the red tees, in the fairway in front of the large drainage ditch. If I go in that ditch, especially with an uphill lie, that’s a great result. I don’t like to flirt with the ditch on the right side, or that big hole by the culvert.
