I agree with most of what you said, but I still love their content. Soly is definitely the worst of the group, but I think that happens a lot with the host/straight man. I think Tron and Neil definitely came from money. Their video about switching to Titleist and how it reminded them of their childhood definitely showed that. I also think Tron does a good job of leaning into that schtick. Neil is the best of the bunch. He's grounded, funny, and probably more talented than the rest at golf, he just doesn't care as much as Soly.

You nailed Randy. I still enjoy his quips here and there, but once I realized he's just a dude who is never happy with his lot in life, I soured on him a bit. When he is on the pod, you can tell he doesn't give a shite about what he's talking about.

Matt doesn’t stink, I bet he’s a 5-7 cap. Yea he hits some awful shots but he also hits some great ones. If every shot you took on a course was recorded there would be some awful ones for you as well.

I mean shite the guy just holed out from the fairway in their last video, and he made a hole in one at PGA National, so he’s clearly got some game

Hole outs and hole in ones are alot about luck, I wouldn’t say someone is more skilled based on those factors.

Steven plays 1 week per month and even then he rarely plays a full 18 holes because of his back issues from his car accident.

You can really see the back pain dragging him down in videos shot at the end of their monthly GG week outing vs videos shot the first day or two.

Matt is really solid. He is well into the single digit handicap and has shot under par on 9 holes. I think he had a good round at bandon dunes playing solo last year but can't remember for sure.

I just dont know how many more good good/former good good club fitting videos I can do. Those boys change clubs about as much as bopper and it's always the "start of something exciting"

I'm not a huge fan but I think it would be more interesting if they got into more details like how things changed with each shaft and club head choice and how they end up at the final choices.

Yeah he talked about that on his solo channel that he looks disinterested but it's more just frustration that his back can't do it so he just tries to have a good time.

I think since Grant left the group, Bubby has improved a ridiculous amount in a short period of time. I think part of that is because he actually cares to be good now and he's past the "former baseball player" schtick. I'm not sure if he's that close to scratch, he's one of the worst chippers around the green I've seen and his wedges aren't great. Obviously hits the ball a mile and he's a crazy clutch putter.

Matt is a prototypical, good amateur golfer. Some holes he'll look great, but he's prone to blowup holes for sure. I'd guess Matt is ~6 and Bubby ~9 handicaps.

On another note, Kwon isn't close to how good he was prior to the accident. Which is totally understandable, but I think the group was hoping for someone to fill the void of "badass golfer" when Micah and Grant left and unfortunately that accident happened.

It's nearly impossible to lose 4 or 5 balls a round and be a 6 handicap. Almost none of these Youtube golfers are hitting 18 cups under the rules of golf, which is fine, but there's no telling what their actual handicaps are.

Yea but he’s got 3 in like a year which means he’s throwing them close to the flag a lot

The more times you play, the more chances you have to get lucky. Bobby Fairways absolutely stinks at golf and he has hit the ball to 3 feet more in the last year than I have.

I think you’ve got it backwards, Matt is worse than Bubby now, I think they are both better than 9 though. Bubby isn’t a good chipper but he has improved and he’s a great putter so if he just gets it on the green he rarely 3 putts.

Agreed, in the Good Good Cup he was easily the best golfer out there and that baby cut was automatic. He doesn’t trust the shot shape anymore, clearly the accident has changed his swing, he’s still solid but not the + handicap looking golfer he was.

How many hole outs you got from over 120 yards in the last 5 years in a “competitive” round?

2, and I play like 25 rounds a year

Edit: 5 years ago, I may have played 12-15 rounds a year. The last 3 years I'm around 25. In 2022, I had exactly 25 scored rounds on GHIN.

Very well could be, I think the next GG major will be interesting to see where they fall. I think I'd take Matt just because he's so much better at approach and around the greens, but who knows. He's definitely prone to some hosel rockets as we saw in the last video.

100% agreed. He had that cut down to an art, and I feel bad for him because he seems like a good guy. He's clearly struggling with where his swing is right now but I'd bet on him finding his form again.

I think Garrett has not improved or gotten worse as well, the other guys are catching up to him, Grant was way better than him when he left.

He’s either not putting in the work and/or too busy running the company to practice

I wonder if it is because he stopped doing weekly saturday and sunday matches vs micah and grant.

He shanks at least one ball every single round. Yes, he hits some incredible shots, but his bad shots are really bad. Players also look better in a scramble because you don’t take their bad shots so you kind of forget about them.

I mean, Trent from Barstool is the guy who I can’t understand more than anyone being so bad playing so much, but he’s also unathletic. It just surprises me when athletic people play so much, have access to all the tools in the world, and don’t seem to get any better.

I am a 7 handicap and I shank a ball about once a round too

A 7 cap really isn’t that great I’m shooting mid 80’s most of the time and into the 90’s on my bad rounds

I guess that’s fair, because it’s based off your best rounds. So if you’re an inconsistent golfer with some good rounds it can bump up your handicap.

I’ve definitely had that happen to me before
