Anyone know anything about this place? Friend wants to play it but I've never heard of it.

Growing up across the river, I remember it being just another course. Over Xmas, my dad said that it was in great shape and we should go play. I was very pleasantly surprised. All of the green surrounds are very shaved down. So, misses are really punished. My short game was not on that day, and it made the day a challenge. The greens were pretty fast for a neighborhood course. This was back in December. I don't know how it's doing now, though.

The course is in pretty good shape right now. I played a couple of weeks ago.

The course is not very long, but it is tight. The greens do not have a lot of undulation, but they are on the smaller side.

It lost a lot of trees during IDA and more were taken out.
This has helped some, but it still plays tight on several holes.

USED to be nothing special. now, its not spectacular, but the money they've put into the grounds, its a pretty damn nice layout throughout....Ida made it a little more "friendly" by knocking down hundreds of trees throughout the course. i go back and play there in a memorial in apr each year, as well as their member\guest in sept. the last 3 years it is improving each year.

100% agree. I grew up playing Willowdale, so even when they changed to Grand Ridge I still called it Willowdale, but the work they've done and the improvements they've made, I'm calling it Grand Ridge now. They've done a great job.

I also play the memorial and the member guest.

I was a member at Willowdale back in the 80's and 90's; the course today is in much better condition than back then. The owner has put a ton of money into it and with all the trees removed before and after Ida the greens stay nice. Fairways still have a ways to go and it could use some bunkers but for the price it's a good deal.

On another note, Cypress Lakes in Destrehan is getting ready to completely redo all of the greens. Love the layout and fairways are in good shape but the greens were gone. Looking forward to the upgrade.
