I don’t often play in the rain, but there’s a rain chance this weekend for a golf tourney. I’m looking for your thoughts on the best value rain gear/suit for performance. Just looking to have something that’s not crazy pricey. Let me know. Thanks!

Where do you live? If it's raining and cold, you need a full on rain suit. If it's South Louisiana, I go for a short sleeve rain jacket and sometimes a rain vest with no pants. You'd die here during summer in a full rain suit.

I use a Footjoy Hydrolite rain shirt and love it.

I’m in South Louisiana. Do you have a preferred brand / model?

The Stitch Golf rain vest is really nice. Very light which is good for south Louisiana

I have a Greg Norman that's super cheap but it's far from perfect. I have a foot joy that's a little better. Neither are technically rain jackets. They just prevent you from being soaked.

I've got an UA and Izod vest and both are good for what it is. But you'll still be wet.

Zero Restriction has some good ones.

Just realize you get what you pay for. If you went with a Columbia rain jacket, you'd probably stay dry, but it isn't meant for golf. But you can get them fairly cheap.

Also, be careful of lining and thickness. For summer, you want one that you won't overheat in.

I found a zero restriction one on sale last year for $99. It’s really good. Doesn’t have a hood was the only drawback

Most golf rain jackets don't have a hood. Too many issues with swinging with it on. And off it fills up with water

Zero Restriction is the best quality / value combo IMHO

I have two but the one that works the best in the southern heat and humidity for me is one I found on Amazon from Cutter & Buck. It's real lightweight and good to wear for a passing storm but not sure I would wear it for multiple holes in a down pour (I normally don't play in those conditions anyway).

The other one I have is heavier that I wear in colder conditions and is actually cheap as hell on ebay right now.

I had a Foot Joy one years ago and from a perspective of keeping me dry it wasn't any better than either of these but it was more expensive.
