I played Saturday morning and after a hot and cold front 9 I started off really well on the back. Drove the green on a 305 and a 320 yard 10 and 11. I may have hit it that far before but this was the first time I could verify it. Birdied both holes and was feeling really good. Lipped out what would’ve been my first eagle.

The next hole was a 112 yard par 3. I chunked my sand wedge twice before I got it past the ladies tee. 6. Ended up shooting 2 birdies but also had 4 triples for a 92 on the day . Missed 2 putts inside 2 feet. Golf is fun

You should probably buy a full new set of clubs OP.

Only solution to your issues.

I started birdie-birdie for the first time ever a month or so ago. Still shot 85

Played my slowest round of the year Friday. Me and a friend had planned to take off work a little early and play. He text me about 8:30 that morning and said he was sick. I said “eff” it, I’m playing anyway. Teed off about 11:40 playing solo. Played thru a group at hole number 3 and that was it...played behind a father and middle school aged kid the rest of the way.

Pretty much waiting on every shot the rest of the round...had nothing else to do, so I stuck it out. Ended up being a 4 hour round when it typically takes us right at 3 hours to play with a twosome. Hit some very nice drives most of the day, but jacked up some second shots from the idle time. Advice on some approaches to take in the middle of slow play?

Did finish up my last two holes on a good note. Bombed both drives on a par 4 #17(made par) and a par 5 #18. Hit driver, 3-hybrid up on the fringe about 25’ from the pin....bad chip leaving 8’ for birdie, but I made the putt. Putted from the fringe for fun after my chip and made the 25 footer for what could have been an Eagle...will be putting from that spot next time I’m in that situation.

“Putt if you can, chip if you can’t, pitch when you have to.”

I try to stick with this always.

I must have choked a half dozen times trying to break 80. When I finally did it and broke the mental barrier I was able to shoot in the 70s without the pressure I put on myself.

That’s impressive. I might have a full shot on the 320 hole. I don’t have tremendous club head speed. My friends that do always say, “look on the bright side, you can’t get to the boundary.”

It is what it is.

I don't normally have highs and lows on the golf course mentally. I can honestly say that was the first time I actually felt some level of nerves for no good reason even. Oh well.

Played in the same group yesterday. Had a 7 over on the front nine, and was 1 over through 15 on the back. Birdied 15, shot a 12 on 16 (yes, a 12) followed by a birdie. . . Ended with a bogey.

The 12 was a lost tee shot trying to clear a creek that needed 270 of carry to clear. Cleared it but landed in the creek to the left of the fairway. Second shot rolled into the next creek. Third shot hit a rock and bounced to a bad lie that I hit into the sand. 2 strokes out of the sand and bladed it next to another tree. Next shot hit the tree bounced back. Bump and run 9 iron followed by a 2 putt. Don't normally show emotion on a golf course, but that ball had to go. Threw it into the woods. Thats about as bad of a temper tantrum you'll see out of me on a course. Would have had a decent score without that 12.

Well, your drive really killed you on 18. You gotta remember when you start to get tired you start to swing strictly with your arms which generally leads to coming over the top and pulling left. Late in a round you gotta focus on using your legs and shortening your backswing. With my wedges I focus on getting my hands in front of the ball at impact. If I don’t do this I pull the ball left as well or hit fluff shots. There is absolutely nothing worse than blowing a sure round in the 70’s. Leaves a very bitter taste in your mouth. BTW, what course were you playing?
