It’s a great piece of property and they could have done so much more. That being said, it’s always in great shape and very enjoyable to play. Considering the rain we have had since July it’s amazing anything is even playable right now.

It’s February and it’s been raining for 9 months.

Played in December and it was perfect.

It’s because they do cart path only if it’s rained within the past 60 days

I’ve played it 3 times so far in spring, summer and winter. All three times, it’s been in great shape. Not once have I seen the greens not maintained or all cratered up. In fact, I played the same day someone on here made a claim like that and they were perfect that day. If you don’t like the place, go play elsewhere. It’s a muni. It’s a good muni. And it’s what a muni should be.

Calm down it’s always in great shape for a Louisiana public course every time I’ve played it.

Never said I didn’t like it. I’ve played it all times of the year and when I played spring/summer the greens were very well maintained. Last time I played, which was recently, I didn’t think it was worth the $60 I paid on a Saturday afternoon. That’s just my opinion.

There were also two random people trying to sell shite on hole 1 just walking in the middle of the fairway. Marshall just drove right by - that kind of confused me. I do agree it’s a good muni and good for what it is.

Whoops, corrected. Got my Joneses mixed up...although they both suck so my point stands

So who is one of your favorite course designers?

3oliv3,

You have no idea what the request of the board of Sleepy Hollow was at the time. The boards of these clubs change every few years and most board members have more money than sense.

Donald Ross is my favorite by far. He made courses hard but they were all right out in front of you. No tricks and one constant, don"t get above the hole. If you do on fast bent grass, you can bring your wedge w you to the green bc it's not stopping. It's why his 6900-7000 yd golf courses can still hold up to the bombers with the right conditions.

Fav modern guy is Tom Fazio. That dude can shape a course. Squire Creek is one of his, and it's as good as anything around it.

On City Park, I'm still convinced the routing was bc of the Live Oaks and probably some drainage. I have to say I was expecting more, but at the end of the day it's S LA. We just don't have the topography for anything spectacular.

"This course is going to be like Torrey Pines and Bethpage Black," said Jones, the architect who, along with Greg Muirhead, also designed those famed public courses in La Jolla, Calif., and Farmingdale, N.Y., respectively. "This isn't just a golf course. This is a gift to the community."

dont get me wrong, I enjoy the course for what it is. for $50 i think its a solid value. for $99 its not. but idk what Jones was thinking.

are there any plans to redo the North Course or update the driving range?

It’s a very well maintained flat course with very nice greens. Not much “character” but fun to play. Once you get over $50 to play it, you will become more critical of it.

I have had more problems with slow play at TPC

Too many baws thinking they’re Bubba playing from the tips.

Say what you want about it, but that course can be tough as shite when it plays long.

I played it yesterday. Went off at 10:30 am after it received about a steady 30 mins of rain. We were off the path and the place was bone dry. The greens and fairways were in great shape and everything was firm and fast. I haven’t played a course in south LA this year where you’re getting roll.

If someone here thinks Bayou soaks isn’t in great shape right now then I’d like to see what they think competes locally.
