I’ve done several RTJ trips now. Prattville is fantastic. I’m personally partial to the Senator, but all three courses are great.
I really enjoyed the two courses at the Shoals. When we play up there we usually drive over to Huntsville and play Hampton Cove as well.
A few times we’ve played at Capitol Hill and then made our way up to Auburn and played there. If your willing to drive a bit, it’s not too difficult to hit a couple of locations.

Haven't played all but I haven't been disappointed yet. I feel like RTJ trail is great value and quality. Ross Bidge is a great, big course. Cambrian Ridge Sherlings/Canyon is a gem of a layout. Magnolia in Mobile is extremely underrated. Look forward to playing more this summer.

I’ve played two of em in Montgomery (Judge and Senator) and The Lakes in Opelika. For the price, I find the courses magnificent. Going to Huntsville in March and hopping to get a couple rounds in up there.

Love Ross Bridge......didn’t realize Pursell Farms in Sylacauga, AL wasn’t a part of RTJ. That course is beautiful. Played it and Ross Bridge in the same weekend. Actually preferred Pursell Farms, but probably because I had never played it and had played RB a couple of times.

I guess that seemed like an ok idea on the front 9. Ha. That back nine is pretty wild. The tee shot on 15 (I think) that is really elevated and wraps around to the left, is nuts. Really enjoyed that course (hell, all of them at the Prattville location were awesome).

Fighting Joe is a fricking beast of a golf course.
They really are damn good courses. I preferred Fighting Joe over Schoolmaster but several in our group just reversed it. #12 is an absolute animal on FJ. 716 from the tips. I played the purple tees but played an extra ball on 12 just because. Made par with both balls. Wouldn't mind playing from the blacks just to see how I'd do but 8,100 yards is some serious real estate.

Cambrian Ridge in Greenville is bizzaro in that you can often pull in there at 8-9 am on weekdays and the parking lot is dang near empty so it's fast play unlike at some of the other courses that are always packed.
Muscle Shoals is also very cool and so different than what you get further south.
Agree with another poster about the Par 3 courses. Play them if you can.

Just going to add Silver Lakes since it hasn’t been mentioned. I think it like Cambrian gets less play. Therefore it’s usually in the top shape of the trail. It’s fantastic and the par three course will blow your mind. Play it from the tips if you go.

I just try to find first tee over 6000 yards. I’m not good enough or powerful enough to “play” 8100 yards. It would be miserable for me. I’m not trying to qualify for the tour, just want a chance to score well and not have to hit 5 wood into every par 4.
If you are near scratch and really pound the ball, play the tips. However, I see guys tip it out when that really need to be one or 2 up at our club. It slows down the flow when groups play inappropriate tees for their ability.

Played the Judge in Prattville and Oxmoor Valley in Birmingham. Great courses but packed. Expect 5 hour rounds unless you tee off first. Our tee time at the Judge was around 1, didn't finish before dark. Played both Oxmoor courses and took over 5 hours to play. This was in November.

Oh no doubt. I played the purples at FJ and they are around 7100-7200. Played my best round of golf there and shot 71. I've gone lower at other courses, but not at that length on a course I had never seen before. Playing from the tips there or Ross Bridge or The Judge would be just to see how I'd fare from that distance. Totally different course adding the extra 1000 yards. I'm a good enough stick to not lose pace playing from back there but it wouldn't be enjoyable I don't believe. More of it being just the experience of playing that long of a course.

Over the summer we played at Ross Bridge in Hoover/Birmingham, Capitol Hill (Judge & Legislator) in Prattville, and Cambrian Ridge in Greenville and they were all fantastic courses.
#1 on the Judge I think it is, is beautiful, about 170' elevation over the fairway.
