Anyone following their progress? Just noticed some of their progress pics on FB. It looks like they’re expecting to open this year.
edit - Nevermind, didn't realize this was an existing course. I guess they're just remodeling.

It was an existing 9 hole course. Looks like they're redoing the original front 9, adding 9 holes, and adding a driving range. Looks like a massive improvement.

Deep pocket owner. The only way that place stays open.

There is a map of their master plan on facebook. Complete remodel, making it a full 18 hole plus pickle ball courts. Seems to be trying to make if family friendly again.

Are they going to reopen the pool too?

If it goes full 18, I'd make the drive from BR. I've always wanted to check it out but Fennwood is a bit closer for just a 9 hole.

According to their facebook page it is going to be a 6800yd 18 hole.Supposedly going to reopen early fall of this year.

complete renovation of existing 9 hole course to an 18 hole course. New pool, pool house, club house, driving range, etc.

Jim Moore. Very deep pockets. Think he told me he has about $18M invested so far. Not done yet. Announced he will be sodding all the new fairways as opposed to seeding them in.
Projected reopening date is September '26. We've had some member meetings regarding course design and progress. If its half as nice as projected, its going to be impressive.

Should break even after 50+years.
I know it doesn’t matter to him though.

Sometimes people do unexpected things when they know their time is near.
At least it a golf course and not some of the things other older gentleman have been know to do.

Looks awesome. The architect doing it is the same firm that redid the Pelican Point greens and bunkers.
I'm assuming the course will be open to the public? How much is a membership out there?

negative. Members only once the reno is complete. They told us what membership would cost at one of the meetings, but I can't remember what they said. I do recall the consensus being it was very reasonable and no one was complaining or clutching pearls.
They just replaced the cart fleet recently and will be adding GPS units to the carts for geofencing around the greens. The new pool is pretty cool. More of an activity pool as opposed to a lap pool. The pool house is fine AF.
Been fun watching it undergo its changes. They are taking out a shite ton of trees. I'll pour one out for that fricking pecan tree on hole 4. That thing was a magnet for my ball most rounds.

As long as they reshape the existing greens I will give it a few rounds a year.

I don't know if this will work, You have to be a pretty high end course with a good location to survive on Members only in Louisiana. There have been many in the BR area that started with the same intention but had to shift to semi private.

Also interesting because that Golf Pass article has it on the "new public" golf courses opening in 2026.
I just cant imagine a place like that getting more than 150 members. The population is just too sparce up there. Might be more Depending on price and if they discount BR as "out of town". I remember the bluffs gave a discount to anyone south of 10 and still couldn't pull any members.

I'm only passing on what I recall being told. Don't think its out of the realm of possibility that things could change. Especially if the ownership changes. But I'm fairly certain they want to make it a members only course. And the manager has conveyed a lot of confidence that they can do it. Time will tell.

Last conversation about membership I had with the manager she told me she was close to 300 members. And that was before they broke ground. She also didn't define "close" lol. But that was the number she wanted.
