Went and played there this past Friday and man, what a letdown that place was. After paying $300+ I expected to be a little more wowed. Fairways were meh, but the greens were in good shape. Played the Preserve the following day and it was in MUCH better shape and a better experience overall for $100 less.

I played each as well the weekend before last. Fallen Oak's greens were really good, but I agree with your assessment. The Preserve is in way better shape right now.

I’m sorry to hear this. FO has always been great when I’ve played there. Playing there next weekend. Hopefully it will be rounding in to shape for the champions event.
The Preserve has always been 1B behind FO for me. FO normally better, but not by much.

It's not on the schedule this year.

I heard their irrigation system was destroyed by the freeze. Probably why it’s not in its usually glory. We have an event there in May. Hope it’s better by then

That's understandable. Just feel like we shouldn't have had to pay full price or they could've disclosed that up front. Either way, there are plenty of other nice courses to play when I visit the coast.

Played Grand Bear yesterday and it was excellent - best fairways on the coast right now. Greens were a good speed and soft.

Played both Grand Bear and The Preserve last week. The Preserve was in much better shape. Grand Bear was definitely not in bad condition, but the greens were fuzzy and slow. The Preserve greens were WAY better.

I was told by a FO member that there is some kind of modified Champions tournament this year. It involves a member-guest format with no spectators. The way he described it, it sounds like a made-for-TV event.

Who do you know that is a member at Fallen Oak? I didn’t think they had memberships she/he must be a super whale gambler. I’m curious how much memberships cost since I have never seen them advertise membership anywhere.
