re: Everything you wanted to know about real deal vs. "made for" shafts

Almost all the time if not all the time if the actual clubs name is on the shaft it's a made for. The shaft cannot be wound the same except for up to an inch or two. Those are the worst shafts you can get. I always tried upselling a customer when I sold clubs not for the profits but for the playability.

The outside was almost identical to an after market shaft.

he had gay sex with a nerd from Alexandria, or some shite, that posts on Tigerdroppings with the handle AlxTgr. Said he’s old, too. Like in his 50’s. Plays frisbee golf and smokes weed, and his wife is fat.
Checks out.

If you go through a fitting, and you are fit into one of these "made for" shafts, at least you can be confident that the club/shaft combo produced good results for you. That is, of course, if you're being fit by someone who knows what they're doing and knows about this shaft "scam" themselves.
About 10 years ago I was playing a lot of golf and drove two hours to go get a "proper" driver fitting. The guy told me he had tons of shafts and heads that I could test out on a machine and find the one combo that I really liked and got the best results. I went in and the guy basically sat a Calloway in my hand and said that was right. It was a complete and utter waste of time even going down there.
There used to be a Golfsmith fitter in my area that could do some bang out work when it came to fitting you but all he sold and would assemble was Golfsmith gear and he did no true custom work. I bought the gear to fit myself and ended up finding a guy who had a mizen station with about 20 shafts that I could test out. I bought the shafts, fitted them to my irons, bought custom ferrules and even stripped the paint and repainted my heads. Very happy and I have a Mitchell loft/lie machine in my shop if I chose to start doing some side club work.
