Golf gods are teasing me. Haven’t been able to hit my driver for the last 3 years. But was hitting my irons decently well.

Watched some YouTube videos and figured out my driver. Now I’m going 250 up the pipe. Now I can’t hit my irons to save my life.

Side note: where do you place the ball between your feet on irons? Personal preference?

Welcome to golf.

Seems to happen with everyone. Figure one thing out and hit a ton of greens, can’t putt. Finally find gateways and irons are gone.

As far as ball placement, it should be pretty close to center of the body. Longer irons slightly forward. Position can also affect shot shape. Slightly back of stand for a draw and vice versa for a cut.

I have a par 3 out my back door. Last week I hit about a dozen in a row in the green. The next day, I shanked my first two and they went in the pond. I grabbed my shite and went back inside.

It be like that sometimes.

Golf is a cruel bitch. I'm in the same boat. A lot of holes, I got driver wedge. My wedge play right now is absolutely horrendous. Chunk or thin it. I know the answer to that is to hit a 3 wood and give myself a full swing, but full swing irons aren't any better.

Depends on the shot you're trying to play. Further forward for more loft and further back for lower flight. I generally play my shorter irons in the middle of my stance and longer irons somewhere a little bit forward of that. There's not a lot of deviation from center but just a little.

This is the story of my game. Either my driver and wedges are on or my irons are on. The one or two times it's all come together have resulted in my lowest scores and really fun rounds.

I need my BAC to hover around .085 for the entire round to have the best of both worlds.

Welcome to the boat. I started playing 3 years ago and driver came naturally to me. Was always one of the longer, better drivers at our club. Wedges were the best part of my game but couldn't hit irons well at all. About a month ago that completely reversed. Absolutely flushing my irons but slicing the heck out of my driver and my wedges feel foreign now; still hitting the wedges okay but not nearly as well as I typically have.

I think my mind struggles to separate a driver swing from an iron swing or something. Oh well, I'd rather be this way than the opposite. I'm okay swallowing my pride and hitting 3W or a long iron off the tee. Golf is more fun to me when I'm hitting my irons well.

As for ball placement, I leave the ball in the middle of stance with all irons. Maybe a touch forward with my long irons but that causes a fade so I don't like doing that a ton.

This is so true . Best round of my life I was buzzed and hit a little one hitter just before we teed off. Think I was swinging more freely and the congregation of swing thoughts in my head were much quieter.

John Daly said he plays golf best buzzed. The problem is that he always gets drunk at some point and it gets ugly.
