PGA Tour players need to send Mickelson a card and some flowers

Every time a new pro-football league joins and then folds, the NFL takes all of the cool stuff and implements it into its league

Now happening to the PGA

Remember when the PGA tour said they weren’t going to change anything at all?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Do you remember when Jay Monahan said the PGA couldn't compete against LIV economically?

Now we see exactly how Jay is going to do it. I'm sure a heart-to-heart with Tiger and his elevated events blueprint has completely redefined the PGA at the speed of light. Jay Monahan has to be close to a nervous breakdown at this point.

Per some posters here, a no-cut, limited field event isn’t true competition. What will they watch now?

The writing is on the wall.
If LIV events are getting OWGR points, then why not do the same for your PGA players?

lsupride can yell all he wants about how LIV is dead, it failed, not profitable, no traction, no support… but here is ANOTHER example of the PGA following LIV’s footsteps.

shotgun start at PGA tournaments incoming

Wouldn't mind that on Thursday and Friday, but would hate it on the weekends.

..... i kind of love that. To take it further, I think i would leave it as-is for the Designated events, so it the sped up rounds is really for the "non-important" events

Todd Lewis from GC said it would be potentially 5-6 events which would include the TOC and the last two playoff events. Curious which other events get thrown in there, but I still don’t love it personally.

According to the press release, it will be no-cut and limited field for all 16 designated events….unless I’m reading it wrong .

?

The Tour was already doing that in the WGC Events, nothing new, just adding more events .

Would there be an elevated match play event (Dell or whatever it turns into)? Lots of chatter on the future of Dell Match Play since it sounds like it won’t be back at ACC so curious if that’s one of these too

Since those include the majors, I think it has to be written poorly. Rory said it’s TBD as well.

Of course you're going to act like LIV didn't influence this

I would think that would be one of them, but I don’t know what it would be. A lot of the members at ACC just don’t love how much time the tourney takes up the course so I’m not shocked it’s no longer there. Would love for it to be at Barton Creek or somewhere but I don’t think it’s possible. In all honesty, there are too many tourneys in Texas anyways. I thought the match play was the best one, but at least get why they had to keep the 2 DFW events.

I think the Valero stinks so maybe they could get rid of that as well and try and do 2 tourneys in the PNW?
