Yes I do.

And the greens are terrible, filled with Poa.

I was at the clubhouse last week and I let one of the owners have a piece of my mind about green conditions.

The Lopez guys always have excuses.

I played River Pointe yesterday for the first time and thought it was fun track. Most of the greens were in good condition. There were several areas that seem to need some watering really bad. What’s the general conditions there and is it worth going back?

Both Riverpoint and Greatwood need rain badly.

The Ownership of both is cheap and sparsely uses water on the fairways.

As far as Riverpoint, I call it a Bubba course.

Good place to play and drink beer with your buddies.

I see guy's dressed like golfers and guys in T-Shirts. I saw two women playing one afternoon in Bikini's.

Can't beat the price for what it is and the location for me.

It can get brutally hot on the last six holes. Plenty of gators, snakes etc...

Greatwood's greens are a lot better now, but the fairways are pretty hard and need a lot of water.

I heard about the gators but didn’t see any. One of the guys had a video of a huge gator.
We did see a big arse snake on the cart path when we were going to the hole that is on the other side of some power line right of way.

They have water moccasins as big as your arm.

Plenty of Copperheads on the back nine. if I had a 100 dollar bill for every copperhead that I have killed there, I could buy a new set of Srixon irons for sure lol

Most of the gators are under 10 feet, but every once in a while a mean 12 footer will show up.

I grew up in Greatwood so I have a lot of nostalgia for this course. Since I left in 2008 the course has deteriorated significantly. I played there in late April and was terribly disappointed.

The greens were god awful. The course wasn’t maintained at all.

Don’t waste your $55.

I played Greatwood the second week it was open, it was awesome.

Now the course has been through too many management companies that refused to reinvest into the course.

Current owners have no business being in the Golf business.

As a homeowner, the course still looks good driving bye, but there are way to many items that need to be fixed.

The City and us homeowners tried to buy it but Lopez refused to sell it.

Plenty of hate between the City and Lopez Mgt.

I remember seeing some signage on a high fence stating something along the lines of “Government Research Facility”.. is that for real? I looked up some ownership maps and there doesn’t seem to have any govt property in that area.
Just curious.

Yep, honestly its for real, I don't know what they do, but sometimes I think that I hear screams at night.

When you say "city", do you mean Sugar Land wanted to buy it? I live in Sugar Land near Imperial Sugar and play at Greatwood and River Pointe. Both are just average at best, but could be so much better... heck, still can't get a tee time online at River Pointe and this is 2022...

I was told this,

When the City was annexing Greatwood, the homeowners has 3 million in a improvement fund that had to be spent.

The City was going to kick in some funding for improvements to the course and clubhouse since there is no public golf course in Sugarland now and the City owns the water rights.

Lopez tried to up the offer and all parties walked. Our money was spent on our levee and the main pool and clubhouse.

I actually enjoy both layouts, but I've never been impressed with the maintenance. To me they are relatively inexpensive places to get in a round and work on stuff, especially when they aren't crowded.

I'm curious to see what the city would have done to the course.

I remember when Greatwood was considered the nicest public in town, douchebag vibe, everyone in the shop wore a jacket.

Some of what I heard was new cart paths, improved drainage/bunkers, redo #14 green and improvements to the clubhouse like a covered patio and new dining area.

The fight between the City and Lopez over water rights continues and the drought is killing Lopez.

For some reason, I seem to do well on #14... as long as I'm on the left side of the fairway...

The fairways were getting hard when I last played there in early June. I saw some pretty good sized cracks just off of the fairways. It just looks like that the ownership looks to want a way out...

I won't even hit out of the bunkers there especially since Covid. Hitting out of those bunkers when I'm getting ready for a week of golf at Tahoe just makes it worse for me lol. I just wait and spend time in the practice bunker on the trip.

I laugh at the water seeping out of the pond on #1 going down to the "main" lake..

Fifteen green use to be fourteens green when it was 615 yds.

I saw W. Kovar hit the green in two with the first original TaylorMade metal driver and a Ping one iron using a Balata ball.

Fifteen was a 200 yd Par 3 where the houses are now.
