Best greens in what area? A five mile radius of the course? Surely you don’t mean the whole BR area. Carter is plenty serviceable but a nice course it most certainly is not.

Which public courses have better greens?

I play a lot in the BR surrounding areas, only ones that come to mind are Santa Maria and Greystone but not better just equal!

Beaver and the Islands greens are in fantastic shape. Beaver especially.

If people would just fix their pitch marks at both, they could be even nicer!

They charged $85 for a December round. Must be doing OK.

The standard for Louisiana courses is much different than the courses in any other state around us that’s for sure. When people want great courses from our area, they have to go private or public out of state. Thats not really a revelation.

Year, it’s why I quit going. It’s very slow pace. Crowded tee times? Not worth the time wasted standing around before every shot.

The first thing Carter can do and not even space out their tee times more is to just eliminate one of their sets of tees and shorten the mens tees. WAYYYYYYYYY too many hackers out there measuring their dicks and playing from the wrong tees.

If wasn’t always like this. There was a time when their marshals actually did their jobs. My dad used to know one that we worked with before the guy retired and then worked at Carter for free golf. Guys were always respectful but on top of tee times and pace of play.

That’s just not the case anymore.

This is so true. Honestly I haven’t seen a marshal actual do a service to the course in a decade. You don’t have to be rude to speed play, get to the problem areas on the course or identify quickly a potentially slow group and manage flow

Marshal enforcement could certainly help but the underlying issue is the limited amount of courses for the uptick in demand that we’ve seen the past few years.

It’s not just a Louisiana thing. I’ve heard from several people in multiple states that are experiencing the same slow pace of play issues.
