I live in Minnesota, and am looking at scheduling a golf trip in the middle of February to Capitol Hill in Prattville, AL for eight guys. Has anyone played it? It looks nice and has three different 18 hole courses. I know the weather in Alabama can be a bit unpredictable in February, but to us Minnesotans, 50’s and 60’s would be great!

Views on courses, lodging, etc would be appreciated.

Be careful, it won’t be Minnesota cold, but North/central Alabama can very easily be in the 20s/30s in February

But if you are prepared for that no big deal. Course is great

Just finished a 16 man trip. Stay at the Oster houses if you can. Google it. All 3 courses are fantastic. Judge is stupid hard

I love the Captial Courses.

Even if I did break my neck on the Senator course.

The Judge is ridiculous, a good ride but like 12 stupid holes. The Senator is great but higher handicap golfers hate it because of the tall fescue (a lot of blind tee shots too). The Legislator isn't bad but the least impressive of the 3. All 3 courses have been in good shape the last few years but I've heard rumors of a greens renovation soon. You will want to check that out, I haven't seen a timeline.

I live in prattville. Stay at the marriot that is basically on the golf course property. Downtown prattville is a cool spot to eat and drink. According to how long you will be in town, there are things to do other than play golf.

Flying out next week!

Playing the Oxmoor par 3 course, all three capital hill, and Ross Bridge.

We are staying in Montgomery, but only because it was significantly cheaper, and its a bachelor party so we wanted to be in the same house.

Restaurant recommendations would be greatly appreciated MikeAV. Will likely go out for at least one "nice" dinner.

Fleming’s in McCalla, not too far from Ross Bridge. They serve a better steak than I cook which I don’t say very often.

The Legislator will be next to have the greens redone. But i dont know when.

The judge is a cool course. But do yourselves a favor and play up a tee box. It is hard enough without it being long too.

February in Alabama is generally the worst weather month around here. However, you can occasionally get spring like days.

Played Capitol Hill last month for the first time and enjoyed it. Course was in good shape. I only got to play the Legislator Course, but really liked it. If you like the RTJ trail in general, you will like these courses.

Where are you staying in Montgomery? If downtown, Saza’s is good as well as Wntzell’s. If you’re on the east side, Charles Anthony’s and La Jolla are good. There are some others depending on where you are.

We settled on Central for our reservation night, but I'll put Saza at the top of the list if we go out twice

Thanks everyone. We booked the Niklaus house and have tee times for two rounds at each course. Now just praying for good weather. Although being from Minnesota, we can handle most anything. Last week we played with a high of 40 degrees and a 20 MPH wind.

We stayed at Nicklaus and Hogan. Great properties for golf trips
