I have a trip in 3 weeks to play golf in Michigan. Staying in Traverse City and getting to play:
Kingsley
Arcadia
Crystal Downs
These courses look phenomenal, does anyone here have experience playing these places and if so how were they?

Whoh… Crystal Downs! Can you introduce me to your hook up?
All of those will be incredible. Arcadia is one of the best golf resorts in America and Crystal Downs is a Golf Digest Top 10 course and crazy exclusive. Alister Mackensie was the architect (Cypress Point, Augusta National). Jealous

My connection is a friend that befriended Tom Doak and he bought a home in the Traverse City area to get away from Houston heat in the summer. I believe he is a member of Kingsley and a course that was Doak's first course he ever built that is being brought back to life.
I have never played up there but from the looks of the courses I will want to go back every year.

Crystal Downs should definitely be amazing

Are yall playing both Arcadia courses? Bluffs and south? Bluffs is the show stopper, but south was built as an homage to Chicago Golf Club. I want to play both for sure

My company owns Kingsley Club. Can’t wait to get up there and play at some point

I just got back from a trip there last week. We played Arcadia South, Arcadia Bluffs, the Mines, Forest Dunes, The Loop and Pilgrims Run. All were incredible. The conditions everywhere up there were fantastic. The Bluffs course is just a spectacular property overlooking Lake Michigan with like 9 holes that could be a postcard. The South Course is the firmest golf course I've played anywhere. They tell you the greens are double rolled daily and roll at a 13-14. I was skeptical hearing it, but I believed it after playing it. You really have to shape shots and get the ball on the ground before it gets close to the pin to get anything close. Really unique challenge. I'm extremely jealous of the Crystal Downs and Kingsley rounds you're getting. You're going to have an awesome trip.
My only complaint was the steak at Arcadia Bluffs was just ok. Breakfast was really good though
ETA: I'd also recommend a weekend afternoon tee time at the Bluffs course. Playing 18 with a full crowd in the adirondack chairs overlooking the 18th green while the bagpipe played was awesome.

Enjoy it! We went up to Boyne in May and it was fantastic. Just a different level of golf entirely.

Check out Forest Dunes as well. Dunes course is legit and the Loop is a very cool experience.

Kingsley is PHENOMENAL!! Yep, that's the first hole. Beast.
Beautiful. Immaculate. Challenging.
Arcadia Bluffs is on my bucket-list. You might be a year too early. They are reportedly opening another course in 2025.
We played Forest Dunes and The Loop. IMO, The Loop is an over-rated gimmick, but it is highly regarded in the media. The Forest Dunes course is very good. Their little par 3 course is a lot of fun. We also played Stoatin Brae. A very pleasant surprise. Recommend.
Hit'em straight. Enjoy.

We are playing 9 holes at High Pointe, buddy said it’s a little thin because of not being fully grown in but the layout was awesome.
