Cane Row has now been officially owned by new owner for 1 year and its making great progress towards being a very respectable golf course. All new cart fleet... Greens are in good shape, all bunkers are in process of being redone..70% complete...sprinkler system works...trees thinned out..cart paths will be fixed by summer...new owner is a farmer( 3rd largest sugar cane farmer in state by tonnage last 5 yrs) so chemicals to get things growing and green coming out of winter will not be problem..still lots more to get done but obviously it takes money...Current monthly membership is $100 and unlimited cart plan is $100...that's $218 with tax for all the golf u can play in a month...March 1 owner will increase membership fees to $150 n $150 carts...$325 A MONTH for all the golf u can play....daily fee will be 45 and 62 weekends....up $11 day for daily/weekend fee....This is still the best deal in the state I think...Anybody think the members are getting a raw deal? BTW the farmer's only goal is to break even on the golf course...if he can't it will be additional sugar cane fields..which the homeowners will not like ...O BTW since he bought the place property values have increased by 15% in the Squirrel Run subdivision...as it was going to be shut down by Perry Segura the previous owner.

Junior membership at squire creek is about the same price so I disagree.

It has made great strides lately. The members should be thankful to have H A as their new owner and the homeowners as well.
Its not the best deal on the planet but its fair
H doesnt do things to break even either lol dont know what business owner does especially one that doesnt play golf often
The work on the bunkers and removing trees on the back nine has it looking good. Hope the greens stay in good shape, they've come along way since Perry finally left. There's not a bad game on Friday afternoons there around noon time
The clubhouse scene has greatly improved and the deck by the green is nic, food is also good.
Would be nice to see it get back to the way it was when i played back when. Still havent joined again bc I dont play enough to make it feasible
Hitem well

Yea Squire Creek is 378 for Jr. membership per month with no cart fees....but it carries a $8000.00 initiation fee. When u get to 40 you get to pay 473 per month...of course the resident golf membership carries a 10,000.00 initiation fee.

please tell me we aren't trying to compare Squire Creek to Cane Row? there is no comparison. I'm not knocking Cane Row, Ive heard good things, but its not in the league of Squire Creek.

You can get the initiation lower than that.

When you go to Cane Row, you can always stop on the way home and get a fresh haircut.

leblanc....I'm not trying to compare Cane Row with Squire creek pendejo...I'm saying that we got a good deal with $325 month for unlimited golf with no initiation fees...mingo dat north la pendejo thinks paying 7-8,000 initiation fee plus 378 a month for a jr membership unlimited golf is a better deal cuz he plays a admittedly better golf course.....but he doesnt know that 45 mins away from him Mystic is even better than what he plays at Squire and way cheaper !

Hour fifteen to hour and a half, but yes mystic is really good. Again, junior initiation at squire is not 8 grand

daberryballer - who the hell you calling a Pendejo? I just made a comment about comparing the 2 courses. And YEs, Mystic Creek is a hidden gem, but the word is getting out about it.

I’m glad to see Cane Row making a comeback. As someone who grew up living, playing, and working there for several years, the place is very sentimental to me. I moved to Baton Rouge in 2001 but go back periodically to visit my parents who still live on the course. My dad also keeps me updated on all the latest news. At its lowest point, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. They “completely” let the golf course go and it was quite depressing to look at. There is still room for improvement but I like the progress being made. Sounds like the owner is committed to bringing the course back to the condition it was in at its peak, which is very nice.
