Sorry I just saw this. Was a member there for a long time. Multiple club pros through the year told me to play to the 150 marker. You’ll always have a clear, flat approach shot. They changed the layout a few years back. 3 used to be 9 forever. 1 was 7. 4 was 1. Not sure why they decided to change everything around.

That was my plan. 5 iron to the fairway. Layup to that flat area. Pushed my 5 iron right and my punch out ran down the slope to the left side of the hole. Still had a decent look at par. But 4 jacked it and then things started moving very fast on the greens for me. Hard to win tournaments when you have as many putts as I did Saturday.

I wish I could dude. Can’t play again until maybe Chennault in Monroe because of my sons tee ball season. But I love Cypress! Definitely recommend playing in the practice round and staying the night. Hopefully yall don’t have the wind we had there last year!

Whats going on at Chennault?

End of April, Frenchman's Bend hosting a 3 person scramble tournament also.

One of the stops on the Golfweek Am Tour for Louisiana North. May 17th.

Tried looking up their website so I could maybe see what the course looked like but I don't think they have a website.

No website. Its not a great track but its getting a little better. New pro started out there last year and has made some progress getting funding, but needs much more. Its long and not difficult if you stay in the fairways. Bunkers are basically dirt, not much OB, and not really any water to worry about.

Played front 9 on Chennault after work earlier this week. Greens are really rough at the moment, combined with being primarily turtle backs and some very questionable pin positions at times....made for a rough round. (Not that I'm any good anyways... )

Alright sounds like that one might not be worth the 2 hour drive

The gas would cost more than the green fee at $38 on weekends if that tells you anything.

Depends. Are you a good putter? If not, this would be your best chance to finish high as they are slow and don't have much break. Calvert is Augusta compared to Chennault. It's a public course and can really be abused if you're long off the tee.

Chennault is in the middle of May. I can only play in certain tourneys because of work, kids, etc. I would probably skip Chennault but I need as many points as I can get. Can’t play in any of the two day tourneys rest of the year, those are the big point getters. So I have to play well in the other tourneys I get to play in order to finish high on the point list in my flight.

Look for dates on the Texas and Arkansas tourneys as well as South LA.The points all count. Might be able to make it up once your kids are done with T Ball.

I’m not worried for points to get to the national tournament at the end of the season. I’m trying to make my flight team for our Ryder cup style event we have with another tour. The only points outside our tour that count are those earned at national regional events, which I won’t be playing in. And I also work as a firefighter so it’s not just my sons schedule I have to play around. It’s my work schedule as well.

Yeah they used to all count for LAVA. I played in it twice. Beat the defending national champ in singles and best ball, lost in a scramble. They put me with the lowest guy from the South LA tour that match. Them old guys whooped us that round. The next year they let a guy drop down a flight, then stuck him on me. All I got was a single hole to pick for a shot. It wasn’t close to enough. He beat me 4&3 and it wasn’t that close. He didn’t miss a putt under 10 foot all 3 matches. Very frustrating. Right after that is when they got busted for cheating/fixing handicaps. I went into coaching football and stopped playing on the tour.

Yes, the Golfweek Amateur Tour. You can still join. Not any required amount of tournaments to play in.

I messaged the director Mrs. Gina yesterday about making up a tournament/if points carried over from a different tour. I was just looking at the Dallas/Arkansas/S LA and was curious. She said "the first tournament you make up after missing one of yours will count... but you only get to bring back 80% of your points to your local tour."

I don't know if it's only 80% because the one I am going to try and make up is a "major" so it's double points. Not sure if a regular event brings back 100% of your points. Made it seem like you can only use points from a different tour one time.
