Anybody played Santa Maria recently? Haven’t been out there in over a year but looking to play this week. Need thoughts. Beaver Creek current conditions as well?? Went out to Copper Mill last week and Greystone (F that place lol)

SM is in good shape. Fairways are the best I have seen them in years. Greens are good with a little Poa still showing until it gets hotter. They are a little firm and need some water this week.

They removed a tree on 8 and I am not sure why except the homeowners on that hole get peppered a great deal and complained. Does anyone have the story?

Beaver Creek is always in better shape than Santa Maria, but not by a ton. Santa Maria is in better shape than it usually is this time of year.

Not this year. I have been disappointed with the condition at Beaver recently and believe the SM is a bit better this year. BC greens have suffered lately

This is pretty much the story. It was a beautiful tree that should not have been taken down.
The irony is that the homeowners who live along #8 drain their yards onto the course while the neighborhood covenants supposedly require homes to drain toward the street. Most of the time, the area in front of the tee box can’t be mowed because it’s too wet. Evidently, they are all a bunch of entitled brats.

I will never understand people that don’t play golf that move onto golf courses then bitch about their homes being hit with errant shots.

Santa has some dipfricks that live on their fairways for sure. Primarily #3 and #8.

It also reminds me of that tool homeowner at the Bluffs neighborhood that would buy billboards pissing and moaning about hoa dues and the golf course.

Beaver is in better shape than Santa Maria, imo. Beaver and the island are the only BR courses I play now.

Santa Maria’s hard pan and slow pace of play is absolutely miserable.

Yes, this past Friday. It was hot garbage ,fairways were ok at best, greens are up with poa and some had pretty nasty spots devoid of grass. Oh and an 8 some formed in front of us on the last 5 holes which was awesome (sarcasm)

I understand why you say that and appreciate that you play elsewhere.

SM gets a bad rap from long ago about pace of play. I play most weekend and we are 4 to 415 hours to play. I haven’t had a 5 hour round in forever. Also, it is in great shape right now and you should go check it out.

I tell my friends in other cities about Santa Maria’s pace. They say at their course 5somes aren’t allowed.
I hate it. I hate 5 somes.

I don't mind it is they are quick paced.. I have a group i play with and sometimes we'll have an extra and we can play 18 at around the 3 1/2 hr mark.. It's the 5some where they all think they're on tour taking their sweet arse time..

I can't tell you how many times I've jumped ahead of slow bastards at my home course..
