Making a little guys trip over there for the first round of March Madness. We're gonna look to get in a round of golf when we arrive that Thursday. Will likely only have time for that one round. Which course would you recommend?

So far we're looking at Grand Bear or The Oaks. Any others we should consider?

Fallen Oak is great but pricey and you have to stay at the Beau Rivage

Do you know if everyone playing has to be staying there? We have a couple of members of the group staying there but not all.

Just have them check you into their room and as long as you are listed you can drive in and play

If you're willing to pay, Fallen Oak and Preserve are the clear #1 and #2.

Midrange is Grand Bear, not sure of its current condition.

Cheap is The Oaks, hard to find a better value in the area.

If your game is in bad shape, or you're a 16+ handicap, don't play the Oaks. It is extremely tight. Need at least 12 balls in the bag to play. Objectively it's a great value, but it can be a bitch depending on how much of a challenge you're willing to put up with.

This is a Gem out about 20 mins away from the casinos. For what i remember 125 bucks for unlimited golf lunch included with $2 beers.

This golf course is pure as it gets with little to no traction, but make sure you bring some extra golf balls some tight fairway action out there.

Played both courses at Diamondhead last few weeks and both in great shape! Oaks and Shell Landing in great shape too!

You can definitely get in some trouble especially if not familiar with the course....OB and hazards sneak up on you.

You won’t be disappointed in any of the ones mentioned.

Fallen Oak is a pretty special experience. I would definitely try to work that in if you can afford it.

It's about a 30 minute drive, but Windance is always in outstanding shape when I've played it. Their greens are always immaculate

I’ll add that Grand Bear, albeit a great course... it lacks in the “service” department.

However, The Preserve is phenomenal and the people who work at Windance are just good dudes.

We make that trip a good bit.

Oh and if you have issues getting on at any of those Shell Landing is almost always in good shape. I like it as well.... we’ve played it a good bit. It’s actually on par with Windance, but based on the coast.

Played Fallen Oak 3 weeks ago, top 3 greens I’ve ever putt on and rolling 12+, I’ve played it over 30 times easily and never seen them in that good of shape.

Got a group of guys heading down to play Fallen Oak and the Preserve the first weekend in March. From the other replies in this thread it sounds like we're in for a treat
