Group of guys taking a Biloxi golf trip in late March. Looking for recommendations to play. All we know of currently is The Preserve, Grand Bear and Shell Landing. Any other do or don’t in the area much appreciated.

Fallen Oak (gotta stay at Beau Rivage) is the best course in the area

I'll take The Preserve and Grand Bear over Fallen Oak all day.

Preserve and Fallen Oak are clearly the top two in regards to maintenance and layout with Golden Bear having a good layout as well but iffy maintenance

I like the layout of Grand Bear more than any of them. It has the one goofy par-5 tee shot that you have to club down on, but besides that, it’s a great design and a great piece of property.

Played Fallen Oak a few weeks ago, had not played there in over 2 years, and was disappointed. The fairways had a lot of bad spots and it did not feel as manicured as in the past. Still a good course but not worth more than Preserve or Grand Bear anymore. We were wondering if the loss of the champions tour hurt the upkeep?

I know the Bridges isn’t in the same caliber of conditions as the preserve, grand bear, or fallen oak but it has a really cool layout. They have a lot of fun unique holes. I have never seen a 260 yard par 4 challenge so many people like the one on the front 9.

I live on the MS Gulf Coast and play the courses here often so here would be my order and opinion:

1. The Preserve
2. Fallen Oak
3. Grand Bear

No way on Windance and even a bigger no way on The Bridges.

I always liked The Oaks in Pass Christian. Been a good while since I’ve played it but conditions were always very good.

Good call on an overlooked course. We played a league event there in August and other than the blazing heat, the course was really good. It’s a little tight off the tee, but it’s a really straightforward, fun layout and the green complexes were good. The treated our group pretty well also.

I live on The Oaks and have played it what seems like just under 1 million times so I am biased and love the course but I do not think it belongs in the top 3.

Regarding my no way comment on The Bridges, I've just seen that course go from nice with a really great practice area to what looked like a goat ranch at times. I've got no problem with the layout, just the conditions. And, there are much better options closer to Biloxi.

Update for the OP and his party……

Stay at the Beau one night and play FO, greens are mint and the best on the coast day in and out, they rolled 11-12 this past Sunday and to find better you might need an airplane. The conditions outside of that are great, it’s the off season so some fairways in drainage areas will be thin anywhere in the country. Good thing is they even have some fresh white hats in stock finally, I only birdied 3 and 17 this trip, chicken salad is still fire and fresh squeezed Rita’s and the infused Bloody Mary are still the best around, 1st class every single time I’ve stepped on the property.

Thanks for the tip! If we booked a night at the Beau how many people can play under one room reservation?
