A buddy of mine and myself have taken up golf in the last few months and we’re wondering what everyone thought would be a good course to practice at that maybe isnt as packed or expensive? We’ve been going to The Pines at North Park in Denham but looking to try out a new spot. Any advice is apppreciated!

Perfect spot.

Also Clark park a par 3 course in Zachary. I’ve never played it but it looks fun from the road.

Clark park. Have a range and a ok chip and putt area. Never crowded but greens are nothing to brag about. 5 par 3's and 4 par 4's.

Didn’t realize Clark has par 4’s. I need to go play it one day.

Is "The Lakes" course at Pelican Point still open?

Second City Park. I'd also add Webb to that list.

Don't be scared to try Greystone, Carter or Beaver Creek. Just do it in the afternoon when you aren't rushed or in the morning, if you are willing to pick it up if you start playing slow. Just play from the senior tees or women's tees.

I may be one of the few, but as long as you are playing fast and aren't tearing up the course, mixing it up with some bigger, nicer courses is also a good option.

Clark is best although condition of greens is nothing to be desired. Still good course to learn how to play. Decent practice area too

The Pines at North Park gets boring after a while and packed since everyone is sharing the same nine holes.

Go play Dumas, it's a fun layout and never busy

BR City Park is great but can get packed. Really wish they would invest some money in to that place.

I started back at beaver creek. I’ve then since played at Webb.

Me too. If it just had puttable greens, consistently, it'd be perfect. It doesn't need to be in pristine condition, but strong greens should be the main goal

Thanks. Don’t know how I got that mixed up.
