looking for some reviews on utility clubs.
was thinking of a 2 or 3 iron version to use off the tee and sub in for hybrid for the fairway.
can pull the hybrid or 3 iron.

I purchased an Adams DHY which is supposed to be some combination of a hybrid and driving iron (it looks like a thick iron). It’s a rocket, and I actually have started using it more off the deck on par 5’s.

I play a Titleist TMB 3 iron. Carries 235 and will roll out to 250 on most tees. On shorter, tighter courses, I will hit is 6-8 times per round. I like the TMB/P790 for this more than the hybrid or really big driving driving irons.

PXG 0311X get rave reviews and are hot, I’m not hitting one nor play a DI though, the Srixon are good as well from people I play with who have them.

I took a 4 iron TM RocketBladez and added 1/2 inch to shaft. It is 20 degrees and perfect for my “driving iron”.
It is hot and forgiving.

I have in the past. Played an old school 18 degree Mizuno T Zoid fli hi for a while. The MP H4 was basically a modern version I liked too.
My favorite of the newer stuff is the GAPR Mid 3 from Taylormade.
Ranking the ones I've used
1. GAPR Mid
2. MP H4 Fli Hi
3. T Zoid Fli Hi
4. Taylormade TP UDI
5. Cobra Multi material baffler
6. Callaway X Utility Prototype
7. Callaway Apex Utility
8. Ping G Crossover
9. MP 18 MMC Fli Hi
The Cobra is also really old school and ugly but it hit long low bullets off the tee.

My new to me TM P790 2iron is my current favorite club in the bag. Only problem with it is that it doesn't really replace any of my 14 total clubs. I carry my 2i about 220 and it rolls forever out to 250. This gives it the same carry distance as my 3 hybrid, but the same total distance as my 3 wood. If I get rid on my 3 wood I won't have any clubs that carry past 220 (3W carry is ~240), and if I get rid of my 3 hybrid, I wouldn't have any shots that carry and stop between the 205-230 range. I need my hybrid or wood if there's a bunker guarding the front of the green or I just need the ball to stop. The 2i I use only if the hole allows for me to roll one up onto the green. It's also great into the wind off the tee on short holes or holes where I need to find the fairway
Basically, it's a great 15th club in the bag. Perfect for certain situations, but not necessary for hardly any

For tight landing zones, I will sacrifice a little distance for accuracy and go with my Cleveland Hi-Bore Hybrid. I am not really a long ball hitter, but I will take the 200 yds in the middle of the skinny fairway every time.

You don't have time for golf

The driving iron is great if you’ve got a high ball flight already, as you can easily hit it from the tee and off the fairway. Hybrids balloon on me, so it’s a perfect gap between my 4i and 3w.
