Played there last week for the first time. Greens are in fantastic shape but the landing areas on the par 4’s are pock-marked with divets covered by sand. I feel as if the course gets a lot of run (tournaments perhaps) and the wear really shows. Mostly short but very challenging holes with small landing areas and narrow fairways. Lots of water as well and some blind shots that grabbed my ball because I didn’t know the layout well enough. All in all, a pretty fun track but not sure it was worth $55 on a Thursday morning.

LOVE the course. Been a member since 2008. It's always in good shape. Consistent. Some of the best greens in town.

I'm thinking about downsizing into a smaller home. Might sell my home on #10 soon.
I HATE getting out of that subdivision. It's really great.

The divots are mostly just a result of tight fairways and collection areas like 2, 6, 11. The other part is the grass not growing because we’ve had cold weather as recently as two weeks ago. Should start to take off now if we can get some consistent rain.

Amazing this has to be stated. Plus, who complains about sand in divots. I would celebrate it.

The membership is pretty good about filling theirs as well as any they see around them from hole to hole. We used to have more sand boxes other than 13 but they were washed away during the flood.

Even the rough at Greystone isn't really rough right now because of the slower growth.

And places that punched early are either screwed or going to have to punch again soon.

Different strokes for different folks, I know the guys who are now in charge and they always do great things and put on top of the line tournaments and take care of their members. I am not the biggest fan of the layout but I’ve never played it in conditions that was not good to great, I agree with some of the gimmicky holes but what course doesn’t have them? Is it my favorite BR area layout? No but it has plenty of holes to take advantage of scoring as it does gimmicky holes to work your way around, the new clubhouse is legit and the food in the restaurant is good. IF you live in that part of town and are looking for a club to join it is worth a look for the value no doubt compared to other membership pricing in the area.

i thought you had only played it once?

Like I said before, the course has always been in good shape when I've played it. It's more of a personal preference I guess.

i felt like you did after the first few times playing it

now, i've been a member for about 5 years, and after many rounds, it's just something you adjust to and learn how best to play the course

i don't mind that I don't get to hit 14 drivers once i've realized where you can and can't miss and where the holes tend to play best from

@ell, i need to get back on the tips for a round or two....it has been a year or two since i've attempted them

there are certain courses where i usually play the tips....greystone just hasn't been one of them

all of our tournaments and money games typically happen from the gold, so there is never too much of an opportunity to play the blacks

it plays significantly harder from back there for me, but i think that is more a function of familiarity rather than the added distance

By saying every time I’ve ever stepped foot on the property it was in good shape? I don’t ever remember saying it was a goat ranch, if so maybe I had too many Ultra’s.

I’ve played it twice, played it a couple months back earlier in the year.
