Per Abita Instagram account, the course is set for a return soon. Anxious to see what they plan to do with it. So much potential out there and the area is desperate for a public course worth a damn.

Can you provide the link?

IMO they would have to make some major changes. The course is just so bland. Played it 10-12 times when I was living in Covington and I was just never very enthused about going to play. The people were always very nice and the greens when I played were solid. Guess it just doesn't fit my taste.

They had the only public range. But drainage was their issue. Enjoyed it for the price.

I agree. I have no clue as to who bought and what their financial capabilities are, or their plans. They should start by renovating the ridiculously outdated clubhouse.

Abita has the bones to make a really fun course. Seems like they just did it the easiest way possible.
My opinion is they should make 12 really good holes and have a legit par 3 course. Make it something this area doesn’t have.

I live in the neighborhood. I’ll try to keep y’all posted on progress.

Have you noticed any progress out there? Have you seen anyone making moves or just the social media post?

Not yet. My father in law, who knows pretty much everyone in the golf biz around here said that some young golfer from Florida bought it and they are shooting to reopen by years end. I drive by a couple times a week and so far the only thing I’ve seen is 3 men walking on hole 4. They were all dressed in dress pants and button downs so maybe the new owner and contractors.

On their IG they said the will be releasing the reopening dates very soon.

Bump again. But will prolly ride by this afternoon.

So I rode by and everything is still closed. Looks like a couple greens were mowed with a regular mower. But most of the greens haven’t been cut in months.

They update their Instagram story pretty often. Today for example they finally just received the new range picker.
I live in old Metairie but I’d come out there to play. Can’t be any worse than the westbank courses right now.

Pretty sure the Driving Range will be opening fairly soon and the actual course won't be open until early next year sometime.

Bumping for the possibility of any new updates.

Website is live, Abita
The range is open and supposedly has a bar.
I haven't been yet but someone said it's $20 for all the balls you can hit. On their Instagram they said the course will open early next year.
