I went to buy the ZStar today and talking to the salesperson that I know said that Srixon is updating it next year. He said the new version should be quite a bit better, especially distance wise.

Most of the new ball updates will hit the stores in February, so I will include it in the 2025 ball tests thread on March 1st.

So on Wednesday, weather permitting, I am going to play the ProV1x on the front and the Chrome Tour X on the back nine instead.

After that, I will do my thoughts and my groups thoughts recap and put it on the first post in this thread.

Courses are more crowded now, or we could play 9 with 2 balls alternating tee shots, etc.

Golf digest does a ball issue each year. They had some like “Seed” that I have not seen.

I am really surprised about the latest Snell balls quality.

The MTB-X was a good ball.

Guys on GolfWrx are saying them same things as MyGolfSpy.

I feel bad for Dean Snell, he is a nice guy. I know he had to switch manufacturing companies and it seems this is the main issue.

Those kind of reviews can kill a company.

Manufacturing is one thing, but whoever he had managing quality control needs a literal boot in the arse out the door.

Not round? How in the hell did that get by them.

I have not and I would be interested to know how they perform.

We NEED an orange Nitro review before this thing shuts down.

“Feels like a large piece of gravel, scuffs easily, flies short, rolls out green side. This ball is popular in low budget scrambles where they give you a sleeve and let buy 20 mulligans. “

Golfballs.com has several logo overrun balls on sale from PRO V1 on down. That's where I got my E12 contacts for 10.99 per dozen for red practice balls. I would like to try a dozen of the Srixon Q-Star divides for 21.99. Anyone played those ?

I have, I just couldn’t get used to the look.

Performance wise I’d say they’re similar to Taylor Made ink

Still working with the prov1 logo balls I bought last week.

Had difficulty today with them, too much spin in the wind I was playing in.

But I did hit a drive 290, so I guess I shouldn’t bitch too much. Yeah it was downwind, but the prov1 will just flat go.

So just got in from playing a little one man scramble for four holes at Clark after work. Hit each shot twice. Once with a new Callaway Chrome Tour and the second shot with a Pro V1X (my normal ball). Off the tee they were almost equal. On iron shots I felt like the Chrome Tour flew lower and was shorter. Chipping and putting the Pro V1X was superior. The Chrome Tour was a tad longer on putts and didn’t have as much spin/bite as the V1X.

*I didn’t hold anyone up today as the course was mostly empty. Plan on playing Fennwood or Copper Saturday morning so will hit each ball per nine holes.

Good analysis BawPaw.

I hit my irons high anyway so I haven't noticed any loss. The Chrome Tour is a little firmer than the ProV1x for sure.

For me they were equal off my driver.

I'm curious , did anyone notice any measurable compression changes when you switch balls ?

No, but I’m not a high swing speed player.

All I know is the balls with urethane covers spin and stick better than the less expensive golf balls with non-urethane coatings.

I use the Maxfli Tour X

These have been my go too for nearly a year now and have absolutely loved them.. similar distance and control that I got from the Chrome Tour X.. and a fraction of the price..

My daughter currently uses and swears by the Pro V1X Left Dash.. she previously was using the Chrome Tour X LS and liked them just dine, but she felt like she got more stopping power on the green the the ProV..

I've been playing Vice Pro's and really enjoy them. This thread encouraged me to try Maxfli Tour. I'll report back findings.

I played a dozen of them and thought it was a good ball. Had pretty good performance around the green and durable. Good distance but not great. Seemed to have a lower ball flight for me.

I would have them behind the Bridgestone BXS, but very similar to the Srixon Z Star and maybe slightly above the Maxfli Tour. Though factoring in price I'd probably put them on par with the Maxfli.

Still haven't tried the Chrome Soft Tour.

I may have to do another update.

We played 9 holes this morning before being rained out.

I had a sleeve of MaxFli Tours in the bag so I decide to "use them up".

Damn if that ball didn't impress me even more. I was pounding it off the tee.

It almost feels a little "Sticky" off my wedges which I really like. Has anyone else noticed that ?

This ball putt as true as any ball that I have played.
