TRAILER
A very influential game on the industry that really flew under the radar because of the system it was on and only being the 2nd in a relatively obscure JRPG franchise at the time. However, the dev team, the engine and composers all had carry over to what you’d eventually know as Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
This game also features tracks by world famous composer SAWANO, whose mainstream claim to fame is with the Attack on Titan soundtrack. Xenoblade was his first video game soundtrack (technically) and he was just 1 year off the AoT composition, so you can hear many elements of the anime in his tracks.
I cannot recommend this game enough. This is a Mt. Rushmore type of JRPG that got zero exposure because Nintendo was doing dumb shite in the mid 2010s like naming their console after an ambulance siren.
Below is Elma, one of the main characters, and her model comparison from the original to the definitive edition.
The picture with the Nintendo watermark in the bottom left corner is her model from the Xenoblade 2 DLC. So you can see they went with a bit of an in between. I know I’m 2 days late so sorry if it’s already floated around here.

Wow so in, I loved the first on the WiiU but got stuck on the final boss. Will finally get to finish it.

This game needs soooooo many quality of life enhancements.
This was really the start of Monolithsoft overcomplicating just for the sake of overcomplicating that carried over into Xenoblade 2 and was only recently course corrected with Xenoblade 3.

Brilliant game. Totally underrated.
But it's crazy. Easily the most nuts of the Xenoblade games. The story is bonkers, the world is bonkers, the scope is bonkers. The systems and rpg elements.... also bonkers.
But if you like Action RPGs, you will probably love it.
