Thank you guys for all the recommendations, advice, etc... I think I pretty much have all the bases covered going forward. I scored the Series X on a Walmart online drop last Friday - took me over two weeks of trying to finally get one. I can't believe the demand and/or lack of inventory with this and the Ps5. Anyhow, thanks again!

Is it still worth it if you don't play FPS games and/or have no interest in the paddles?

I dont use the paddles and hardly play FPS. I just love the feel of the controller and the ability to swap out the thumbsticks to something that feels more comfortable

Costco doesnt even sell them anymore because of all the issues and returns. The Elite V2 is a complete piece of shite and they haven't fixed any of the issues. Go read through the 30k comment complaint thread on reddit

I'm on my 4th Elite V1 and D-pad Down just started requiring some very hard, deliberate presses to trigger. Still not doing warranty exchange because I dont want a V2. MS has no clue what they're doing with the manufacturing of these controllers

I signed up to answer this.

If you have the xbox series x(499.00)(60bucks for xbox live for 1 yr)

Buy if u can

...Elite controller
...A40 tournament ready headset
...Gaming table
...24 or 27 asus 1ms monitor
...Gaming chair(like an office chair)
...black ops cold war game
...4 chargeable batteries and battery charger

Above can be around 800 total. A Best Buy credit card is your friend lol...they give you 24 months of no interest, just pay on the balance every month. It's like a 24 month layaway but you got the merchandise.

Make friends online with people. Once your at this point. Many here game on call of duty and if you tell us your gamertag ,we will friend you for some games brother.

I have not had any issues on my elite series 1 controller and my son has not had any on his series 2. BTW costco still sells them.. We bought my son's about two months ago from the website. They just remove the product listing when it is out of stock. They do this with almost everything

the issues are coming, just wait. my first S1 controller started developing stick drift about a year in. 2nd and 3rd i returned because the paddles weren't molded right and they didnt have a tactile click. 4th is the one that just developed the D pad issue.

Series 2 is the real pos though. your son will be facing the ghost A button, broken paddles, stick drift, or whatever else soon. glad you got the warranty because you will be using it. appallingly bad QC and construction

it'd be one thing if the controller was more reasonably priced, but if I'm paying almost 40% the price of a console for a fricking controller, it better work for YEARS and not have to be warranty exchanged multiple times

so many "get the warranty" comments

IndigoTiger, appreciate the suggestions, offer to game later, etc... It will probably be some time before I have the cajones to play people online. I'm afraid my gaming skills will need much nurturing and honing prior to that - to avoid extreme embarrassment, lol... Also, thanks again to all of those on here who offered their advice!

Buy the game and do the "campaign"...its alot of fun, also you can play any game mode on "easy" and go against bots and get a ton of practice...once u get used to it ,raise the level of difficulty. The key will be to be able to control your character, wak, run, crouch, aim and shoot etc...practice

I'm getting an 8TB external drive when I get a series x. I have a 4 TB for my Xbox One and it isn almost full.

To anyone getting a Series X: Get Game Pass. It's all you need.

Are you really playing 4TB worth of games?? I have about 3TB of games on my orig X1, which contains about 2TB of games I will never play again.

I just added an extra 1TB to my Series X, so I can keep the non-optimized there and optimized on internal.

This of course is dependent on having Internet that supports re-downloading a game if you want it.

would 100% say get the warranty if getting the elite controller. bumper broke on mine and just walked into bestbuy and grabbed a new one

elite 1 was a pos that broke all the time.

love the controller but too expensive to have so many problems.

and the roughly 60 hours of battery life with a USB-C charging port is extremely convienient.

I've had an elite for about a year and a half and it's never even come close to dying. It comes with a little charging dock, so as soon as I'm done playing for the night, I just set it on there and it charges.

Far and away the best controller I've ever used. Across all consoles. Love the paddles for FPS and even a game like rocket league. I think you would still be happy with it even if I didn't use the paddles. like the guy above said, it just feels so much better and the interchangeable joysticks and trigger sensitivity is great.

Damn, I guess a couple of you have me sold on the "elite controller", but that $180 +tax price tag is a bit concerning. You all sure that juice is worth the squeeze, even for someone who's a relatively new beginner to this like me? I guess I already know the answer, but just waiting for your "better minds" to twist my arm to do this, lol...

I got mine for $100, but if it dies I’m paying full price for another if I have to. It’s a bit of a game changer for FPS games.

One of my nephews is swearing by this "scuff" controller he's recommending. What are your recommendations of that vs. a Microsoft Elite controller? Thanks again for any info.

Scuf has paddles too, but I’m not sure if you can remap the paddles like you can with the elite. You can have 3 different paddle profiles on the elite where the paddles can do different commands depending on the game.

Random question for you guys. I got through and purchased a series X yesterday during the Walmart drop. It was supposed to arrive today as it was listed as free next day shipping. Got an email at 5 am this morning stating it was delayed. Also mentioned in email that further delays or even cancellation possible. Anyone else experience anything similar?
