That game would take a lot of polish though. Horrible spawns, a system that encourages no team play, very meh maps, etc. It would be cool to see someone take some PC mods that are awesome and turn them into actual games now that the next gens can handle larger worlds and stuff.
I played mag for 2 years with a dedicated group. I disagree with everything you said. Decent spawns and it only awarded team play being that without it you got raped. It did only have a few maps but it did those few very well.

Fair enough. My experience was with random teammates that camped and sniped in the back of the maps. No organization and getting spawn trapped (as much as you could spawn trap on the game) to the point of being killed a few seconds after leaving the spawn area. I liked the idea but I still thought it needed a lot of work.

I get you on that. The few times I played with ransoms was miserable.
It allowed team kills though so those guys usually for knifed in the back.

I just liked the idea of playing one full game with a decent team for 25-40 minutes. The scale of the128-128 battles was crazy.

MAG had a great idea that never really came together.

It wasn't for everyone, but the dedicated fans really seemed to enjoy it until the DLC with very weak game modes was released.

Here's hoping that Sony and MS will split the time vacated by Nintendo's no-show at E3 and just hit us square in the face with game after game after game.

I found the Halo TV plug to be a big fail.
I cosider myself to be pretty geeky/nerdy and that was too much for me.

And call of duty dogs. But that's not exclusive to Xbox.
Activision/infinty wars is not exclusive on their foolishness.

"We wanted to do something new, so this game is set in a world where America has been attacked and is the underdog and a small team of guys must win back our freedom, oh and one more thing we have dogs!"

Steve Jobs’ Dream Device Has Arrived???
LINK
Despite what a lot say this is why the One will sell a lot of units. Sony might benefit from marketing itself as the Ying to the Xbox Yang in that it's "for hardcore gamers" but I think the average consumer today wants multi use devices and an easy to use device that acts as a central hub for all your entertainment is a good place to start.
It's almost like the fact that it will be able to play any games coming out in the next several years is the add on. Gaming is the easy part these days. We all know that consoles can play games but this is the added features I was talking about that make this my preference if I do wind up purchasing one.
quote:
Just before he died, Steve Jobs told his biographer Walter Isaacson about his dream for revolutionizing television. His fantasy device would control all the many doodads that crowd your living room—DVRs, game consoles, Blu-ray players—and would connect to the vast world of entertainment available online. Best of all, it would be drop-dead simple to control—no more futzing with the Input button to switch between different kinds of content, no more fiddling with different remotes to control your devices. “It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine,” Jobs said. “I finally cracked it.”
Today, I saw something very close to Steve Jobs’ dream device. Just like he envisioned, this machine turns itself into the hub of your living room. It plays video games, Blu-ray discs, TV shows, and everything you could possibly want from the Internet. It switches between this stuff seamlessly—you can forget about the Input button. And it does indeed have the simplest user interface imaginable, an eerily accurate voice-recognition system that is far more intuitive than a remote control. Want to watch MTV? Want to see what’s on HBO? Want to switch between TV and a Blu-ray? Just tell it what to do, and it will respond instantly.
Before you say anything, though, you’ve got to say its name: Xbox.

Saw all of the jokes yesterday, but I guess I missed when this was actually said.
Just perfect

i would think most of the consoles are gonna go in the kids room, are people really gonna put this up in their living room where they watch tv?

And that's good and all but can't I do all that with a good universal remote?
If my receiver has 4 hdmi inputs and one output and my logitech remote can do macros, all I have to do push the button that says "play a game" or "watch a movie"
Maybe I'm missing something.

It really is more of a PC now than a console. Same with PS4. Both are pretty much proprietary HTPCs actually. I see it as being the same has having Apple TV or something in your living room just this one has more options and can play games.

Kids will still have their video games but most of us grew up during a time when video games were becoming popular. It's now ingrained in our lives, so yes it is part of the living room for many young adults.
Your parents might ask when you are going to stop with the nonsense but they just don't understand. They grew up with the television, we grew up with the video game console, our kids will grow up with iPads, iPhones, MP3 players etc...
