They haven't touched on it yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if Sony follows suit, most of the game development community is behind this concept.

I know that if enough people make a ruckus over it, it may not make it into the final console.

We know they took the easy way out for always online. They're leaving it up to every publisher if they want persistent online for DRM.

I wouldn't be surprised that with the cloud it's tied to your account. Cs and Slim though have given us their own ideas on how it works as fact at this point.

This is a question for which Microsoft did not yet have an answer, and is surely something that game buyers (as well as renters and lenders) will want to know.

And what of the persistent rumors that Xbox One games will be “always online” – that is, that single-player games would require a constant online connection to function? As it turns out, those rumors were not unfounded, but the reality is not so draconian. Xbox One will give game developers the ability to create games that use Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing service, which means that they might be able to offload certain computing tasks to the cloud rather than process them on the Xbox One hardware itself.

This would necessitate the game requiring a connection.
Are developers forced to create games that have these online features, and are thus not playable offline? They are not, Xbox exec Whitten said to Wired — but “I hope they do.”

So the always-online future may come in incremental steps.

I just can't imagine that the fee will be substantially cheaper than the price of a new game.

Otherwise, you could purchase the game, take it over to a friend's place, and simply pay $20-$30 to successfully install it on his One.

More details are needed, but there certainly seem to be some limitations in place.

So as long as you sign into your account it can be played on multiple consoles despite what you and Cs were saying.

exactly what I was saying


Me and a couple buddies could go in on it and split cost plus mult licensing fees



either that or ones its downloaded on 2nd console it gets whiped from console 1

I am not talking about that. I am talking about not being able to play it at a friends house. You can store your profile and saves int he cloud now. No doubt that will carry over to the One so it would be very easy to sign into your account at your friends house and play the game that is tied to your account.

Why do this? One of the beauties of a console is you can swap discs with friends, rent them or buy them used.

This is a PC that plays Xbox Games.
