Nah, I ignore them mostly. When I take the time to type very long correct advice in the expedition 33 thread and people downvote it, I’m going to call them the no life loser figs they are. Specifically there because it implies it’s bad advice, when it’s not, it’s the most optimal way of playing the game. I suspect one of them is you, however you’re not even on this board enough. My post earlier in this thread caught one in 2 minutes. So it’s someone with no life, and time to refresh the board every second of every day. In a way I pity them, but they are by definition losers, figs, and people with no life whatsoever.

Draco I’ll give you the list when I get home

Appreciate it. I’ve enjoyed the game a ton. To me it’s harder getting around than recent Soulslike games but the bosses are easier.

So the non key bosses or optional ones I’ll list below, any not included are key bosses or story bosses mostly mandatory.

Bai Kru (this is the tutorial boss you’re meant to lose but if you win get 5 soul mercury)
Tang Palace Maid
Feather Priest
Glutton Monstrosity
Tang palace maid 2
General of the north
South general
Bo Sorcerer
Monstrous Toddler
Nightmare Dragon
Vermillion Feathers
Bo Magus
Eternal Glory
Demon of Obsession

Those are your “optional” bosses more or less in what I think is meant to be the intended order to face them with the main bosses cut out of their place in the order. I’m using this as a checklist, hope this helps

No problem mate. Happy to help. Im doing my first run mostly blind other than looking up the boss list to make sure I knew all the optional bosses so I could make sure I get them all.

I did however by order of osmosis on neoseeker see a few things about what you need to do to achieve certain endings, like the most important side quest and what you need to or not do with the items you receive in them. The best ending requires answering some of the door questions in the "wrong way" which means you dont get the path that will include some items youd likely want like armor and weapons, I think, not entirely sure since I didnt want to look too deep into it. Some of these optional bosses may or may not be locked out of your ability to find them if you choose to take the route for the best ending, I am not sure if they are behind the "correct" door answer in some cases so it might need multiple runs to get them all if you are seeking the best ending.

A lot of this is speculation maybe stanberry can clarify

What weapon are you using by the way? I’ve been on the longsword whip 100% since I got it. The lack of weapon variety is pretty surprising

The longsword whip is really good, I personally dont like the movesets for them much though.

In these types of games I always use whatever the equivalent is to a dex build, I like things that have high attack speed.

There is no stats in this game obvs like a traditional souls like but I use the short sword its ability to passively generate skyborn might is very good, and i parley that into my favorite weapon class the dual blades.

If i were to rank the 5 categories imo itd be like

Dual blades
short sword
longsword
Axe
Spears

In my experience the Axe and especially spears are just far less useful

The Axe straight smashes. I beat the majority of bosses with it. I'm at the very late endgame and have since switched to dual blades and they're probably my favorite. I haven't messed with the short sword or spear much since the very beginning, but the dual blades, Longsword, and Axe have all been very fun to play with. I'm at the eternal glory boss and have just beaten the two phase boss at the end of phase 4. Such a fun game. I honestly think I've enjoyed this more than Lies of P.

I have barely used the spears they just don’t come off as useful. The axe just moved to slow for me, it is very powerful though.

I switched back to the Axe to beat demon of obsession and eternal glory. I'm at the last boss now and almost beat him first try, but was exhausted. Will beat him today. I've found that every weapon is extremely viable. It just depends on your play style.

I guess I shouldve tried magic sooner. Switched to the astral blade for the final boss and two shotted him with the lotus soul flame spell. Guess I'm gonna try a new game plus and try all the spells in the game.

Just took down Bo Magus. Is it just me or is this game pretty easy compared to other Souks games? I’m not beating my head against any bosses. The backstab has nullified any human ones so far

Yeah I found it easier than some of the souls games I've played. There were still some bosses that gave me a few issues, but nothing like Khazan imo. I still had an absolute bkast playing and I'm bummed out that I've finished it. Not sure what I'll play next.

Khazan was difficult. That final boss took me 100+ times.

Anyone played Ashen?

Never heard of Ashen.

I agree with the sentiment this one of the easiest souls likes I’ve ever played but it’s also one of the most fun

Patch dropped today with some mild nerfs. Normally I'd be against nerfs but they addressed two things that were definitely on the "frustrating" side of difficulty rather than mechanical or numerical.

You apparently get more iframes when getting up after a knock down, which is big because many deaths against bosses are getting trapped in a doom loop of getting hit/knocked down with limited opportunity to get up.

And they apparently also sped up healing flask drinking time, which again was noticeably on the slow side for a game like this.

The getting up speed after knock down became a deal breaker for me. I got to some of the hardest bosses in the game and it appeared their design was deliberate to be able to track and trap you just due to how slow your recovery time was.

Glad to hear it is fixed. I will go back and finish the game likely today
