At one point in BC, myself and one other guy had a monopoly on the jewel crafting market. Started out as fierce opponents until one day I messaged him and said let's chat it out. We came to a truce and agreed to buy all of the high end ores at any price and split it all. It was amazing. No one on our server could compete with the prices so we were THE market for the red/purple gems.
We were in separate guilds, and had daily emails on what we were charging for stuff. fricking nerds, I know.
Keep in mind this is when epic mounts went on sale for 5000g. I got mine immediately, and started helping guild mates get them as well.. Mostly traded for gold at first, then ended up selling gold for cash. Hell one guy sent me a bottle of Glenlivet 18 when I handed him 5000g.
I got obsessive about the auction house stuff with that guy and at one point I had 200k gold before I started just giving it away. Stopped playing in WotLK because I was graduating college and needed to get shite done.

Honestly I think this is the wrong move and they should just keep adding realms. Better to server merge than overpopulate the servers so much that removing layering becomes a problem.

i had a similar scheme with Jewelcrafting and Enchanting.
would buy all high end ore and level 70-80 greens, JC some shitty green ring. Disenchant stuff by the 100s
buy out every large shard or essence from the AH, then relist at whatever price I wanted, individually, because people would just type "large shard" and buy the first one
made a ridiculous sum and was buying mammoth mounts, giving away epic mounts etc.

I dinged 22 and recently started a guild, up to 30ish members. I'm one of the higher level players on my server so I'm finding good dungeon groups and making good connections with the better players. If anybody else is in Westfall let me know. There's no queues there either, at least I haven't hit any.

Got to 21.5 before i had to go to sleep last night. Hoping ques will be better this evening. I dont think i trust remote access apps enough to get in que early.
Gonna do some turn ins and grind to 22 before going to SFK for a level or 2 and then do ashenvale. Have to remember to get my lvl 20 mage quest for SFK.

I wanted to play on Grob..Queues just wouldn't allow it with the minimal amount of time I can play. I rolled on Ashkandi. having a blast.
