It's a homebuilt... I usually upgrade at least one component a year but I've slacked off this past year or two.

Ryzen 5 2600X ~3.7Ghz
16GB RAM (I think it's DDR5 something like PC3200 or something... been awhile?)
GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
Windows 10 running on an M.2 NVME (data and everything, yeah probably not the best idea)

Also, forgot to mention that I'm only running at 1080p.

Your PS5 can outperform that. It's not a bad little rig, but it's dated now, and the tech in the PS5 is still new.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. I've hit that point where outside of a video card (and maybe monitor upgrade) which has been way too expensive lately, I'm going to have to upgrade the motherboard which is basically rebuilding like 75% of the PC. :)

Thanks for the info tonight though! I'm still planning on installing the PS5 version if it will ever install right. Going to try again in a little bit.

You're very welcome. And if you decide to kick up a new build, happy to help if you would like

Thank you sir, I may take you up on that! I do remember hitting a point last time I played where I was really struggling to make a few decisions as far as where to allocate things but it's been awhile now...

Hey guys, are y'all having to manually download the update or did it just automatically install?

The 10GB download you saw is the update for PS4. I'm pretty sure the PS5 version isn't releasing until midnight local time (whatever local is for you), and it won't be an update, it'll be a full download of the PS5 version of the game.

Once it's available, I think you'll click the three dots "..." next to "Play Game" or whatever, and it should show a PS5 version available for download.

I'm kicking myself for not getting the PS4 complete edition when it was $10. Seems like the performance on the Series X isn't great.

LOL I misread (actually misunderstood) that because I'd gone back to trying to get TW to work on my PS5 so I was back in that frame of mind when I read/responded.

I will 1,000% hit you up for upgrade advice because I haven't kept up with the tech much at all the last few years! Hopefully sometime early next year I can splurge, just hasn't been a big priority since I have the PS5 now. :)

I don't want to hijack this thread (and I could've sworn there was some way to send a direct message on here but I'm either officially getting old or there isn't a way to do it anymore) but just to kinda plan ahead... looking at what I've got, what is/are the most cost-effective things you would upgrade first if you wanted to spend around $5-600?

Really the most hardware-intensive things I play on my PC are probably the Total War series. I mostly play (way) older-school war/strategy games, so I haven't kept up with a lot of recent tech. I'm still kind of a tech geek though so this is kinda opening my eyes to maybe it's time to upgrade after Christmas.

PS If there's some way to direct message and I'm just a dumbass tonight, please feel free to respond via that channel and my apologies to everyone else. :)

Just a heads up. The PS5 update didn't show until I put the PS4 disc in(even though the PS4 game was installed). Once I inserted the disc and went to the store page a "Free" button was where the "Purchase" button was and selecting it led to a screen to claim the PS5 version and a warning to keep the PS4 disc.

The download for the PS5 version is 50.619GB.

Yea, typical sony crap. Only the ps4 version showed in my game library, i had to go to the store, find the witcher, and then buy the ps5 version for 0.00.

So i got that, but my saved game doesn't show up. I hadn't played that far i don't think when i stopped to wait on this version, but still pretty lame.

Sounds like things are great on consoles, but the PC version of the update is... struggling. Looks beautiful, but performance is awful, and not just because of the eye candy. Performance is just kinda bad. CDPR is currently looking into it. But as a word of warning: if you're currently actively playing TW3, I would hold off on downloading the update. You might find yourself a bit frustrated for the next few weeks:

I hate that the higher two difficulties won’t allow you to heal while meditating

Initially annoying, but there are quite a few ways to deal with it. You'll have more food than you'll ever use, so just quick slot a stack. Also, taking the Gourmet perk early in a NG playthrough gives you a nice background health regen. There are also several decoctions that restore health, including Ekhidna, Ekimmara, and Troll.

Thank you sir, will do! I'm not in a big rush or anything, just kinda wanted to get a feel for if there's something even worth upgrading but I'll get a thread going soon.

LOL I was Googling all over last night trying to figure out why the hell the upgrade wasn't working, then I went back and noticed today it was clearly stated in the quote from your earlier post with the release times graphic that the PS5 version wouldn't be available until midnight (which someone else thankfully pointed out to me... Google was full of a lot of BS/misleading info.)

Anyway, FINALLY have it installed and a couple hours of free time so about to dive in!!

Have to launch ps4 version, enable cross platform by goin to save game and pressing L2, then making a new save. Then it will show on ps5

I tried to load up the PC version today to play with settings a bit, and I can't even get the game to load. As soon as I get past the loading screen (the current story point vignette), game immediately crashes and asks to send an error report. You would think CDPR would have learned from the shitty CP2077 launch, but apparently not

ETA: Loaded up the DX 11 version. While it manages to load into the game (huzzah!), the performance is unplayable on any setting. FPS won't go above about 65 and frametimes are through the roof, making it even more choppy. And it's not a settings issue: my GPU utilization wasn't going above about 50%, with my CPU in the low single digits. If I lower settings, my FPS stays the same, but my GPU utilization simply falls lower. Just awful, awful work by CDPR.
