And actually, while I'm thinking about it, another item that I think will be a big deal will be the increased draw distances and LOD. I love TW3, but even with very high end hardware, the level of pop in, for both items and textures, is a little jarring at this point, at least for me. And unfortunately, while some modders tried to fix that, it was difficult for them to do so without introducing serious bugs into the game, caused by assets being loaded before expected triggers were hit and therefore not behaving correctly.

It'll be a fifth playthrough for me.
Hands down, the most immersive and emotionally enthralling game I've ever played, in particular the HoS and BaW DLC quest lines. The absolutely beautiful graphics only added icing on the already delicious cake.
If they can smooth out some of the clipping and reduce those ridiculously lengthy load times, there won't be a flaw to point out at all.

I think the clipping was, and still is, embarrassing. I genuinely don't understand how they thought it was ok for Dandelion to have a cravat as part of his wardrobe that constantly flickered and clipped into his chest in cut scenes. As bad as the new Dandelion skin looks, I was considering using it just to get rid of the clipping distraction

Quarantine for me was playing Witcher III and Civilization VI for weeks. It was awesome to have the time to play games again.

Looking forward to playing it soon, and the fact that it's free shits all over Sony.
Maybe I'm confused but is the upgrade not free for Playstation?

I always built Quen heavy. Any fans of other signs?

For those with Nvidia GPUs, the Day 0 driver for both Portal RTX and TW3 dropped yesterday. If you haven’t updated in a while, now would be a good time.

I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it on PC. His one complaint (other than screen stutters when quest objectives update, which he thinks is likely to get ironed out) is geared towards consoles: if you want RT, they can only do 30fps, and in his opinion, the experience is unpleasant. That's obviously less of an issue on a PC.

For those with PC and Xbox, and for PS5 owners who stay up unreasonably late, just one more day. Reminder on release time:
Twitter
Midnight GMT on the 14th is 6pm on the 13th for those of us in CST. So unless something fricky happens with the servers to delay the rollout, that's when the update should go live for PC and Xbox. If you're on PC and still haven't updated your GPU drivers, today would be a good day for it.
Handy dandy included graphic in the twitter post:

45 minutes, gentleman...
Also, I missed this yesterday, but CDPR finally got around to posting the change log, including which mods have been incorporated: LINK
As a reminder, you should disable all of your mods before firing up the next gen update. Most of them are likely to be broken, at least for now.
ETA: After I disabled all of my mods, I did a test boot and some the game scripts failed to execute. Loaded up Steam, verified game file integrity (go to library, right click game > properties > local files > Verify integrity of game files). Game booted up just fine after that.

I had to exit and restart Steam to get it to recognize the update, but I have it downloading now. Chunky 46.2 GB.

Downloading the update on Xbox. It's checking in at 53.66GB.

Hey guys, are y'all having to manually download the update or did it just automatically install? I'm on PS5 and I saw a ~10GB update successfully run on it a little while ago but after starting the game, I don't see any difference at all. Is there any indication on the title screen or anything that you're running the updated version?
ETA: From what I can see after a little Googling, the PS4 version should actually update to a PS5 version and I think that's where something broke down. I'll keep messing around with it...
ETA2: I tried totally uninstalling the game and re-downloading it but the PlayStation store is still only showing a PS4 version (even though there was a message saying it was available here now).
Finally said screw it and got it installing on my PC now.

Can't speak for consoles, but the update didn't... take? the first time on PC. I had to close out the game and restart it. You should get an annoying CDPR splash page asking you to choose between DX 12 and 11 if it took. Also, you can load up settings in game. If all you see is Ultra+, it didn't fully take. You should also see RT and RT+ presets.
It's a fricking beast. With a 3080, if I go full RT maxed everything, I'm average 45-50fps with DLSS Quality.
I don't trust myself to frick around with it too much during the week, but I'll probably spend some time with it this weekend to see what I think is, and isn't, worth the hit. I will say that RT Global Illumination appears to be a significant improvement over their original bullshite lighting system, but I haven't moved around a ton yet. Even without RT, the textures now basically look like what my heavily modded game looked like before, so a massive improvement. Kudos to CDPR for this being a free update. I think a lot of people are going to really enjoy another playthrough.
ETA: I will not buy a stupid fricking 4090, I will not buy a stupid fricking 4090...

Thanks for the info!! I'm probably just being impatient but I've been planning on checking this out tonight (only ever made it about 5-10 hours in and I loved it but life got in the way for awhile) so I'm just installing it on my PC. I just think my PS5 can probably outperform my PC... we'll see though!

It's hard to do a like for like because of the dynamic up-scaling the consoles engage in behind the scenes. What are your PC's specs?
