Witcher 3 is impossible

On PS4. Don't know if my game has bugged out or something but I can't finish final objective at the ancient port in Wandering in the Dark mission in Velen. I have a Witcher contract and can't defeat the griffin once I get it out of its cave and another where I can't defeat a wraith at a bandit campfire outside of some small village
I've turned the difficulty down and can't figure out what the hell to do. I'm at a level 6. If anyone had tips please share. Thanks

Sounds like you either need to get good or level up some more and come back to the quest later. What helps is reading the bestiary on the weaknesses of the foes and applying the oils. Oh and btw use Quen. By far the most OP sign to roll with.

You've practically beaten the game anyway, might as well hang it up

Lol that arch griffin is the highest level mob in the game i think . You are lvl 6 and its lvl 35

Translation: player zoomed through the main quest line as fast as possible without doing any side activities that would bring him to a feasible level to complete the main quest.

Pretty sure it would be impossible to beat the main story at level 6

Thanks for tips. I'm definitely not racing through the storyline, would if I could. I'll start using Quen sign, I beat a wraith before and it told me to use the magic trap sign, but maybe quen is the way to go
Couple more questions for anyone willing to answer - once I make an oil or potion, do they refill when I meditate? And how the hell do mutagens work?

I think the griffin you're referring to is at the beginning of the game, right? The one you fight with Vesemir? Not a lvl 30+ Witchcer contract, right?
Aard to stun and hit him.
Crossbow when he takes off.
Dodge his charges.
That's about it.
Meditation refills all alchemy potions. Mutagens are the 4 "side slots" next to the 12 skill slots. You won't be able to use them for a while. Maybe lvl 10? They just give bonuses to attack power, vitality, or sign intensity depending on what color mutagen you put there.

There is no level scaling in Witcher 3 which means you have to be very careful where you go at lower levels. When you get to a higher level, you can pretty much go wherever without fear of death. Pay attention to the recommended levels for the quests you pick up

I think this is only on the lower difficulties, not the hardest.
As for combat, I was easily beating enemies 5-6 levels above me playing on normal difficulty. Might want to stick to enemies around your level on the hardest difficulty.

That's vitality. On "Blood and broken bones" and harder, you don't get HP from meditation. Just food. But it does refill potions/bombs/oils.
I just refinished the main story and Heart of Stone on Blood and Broken Bones. Trying to motivate myself to install Blood and Wine, but haven't been able to yet.

quote:As others have stated, there is no scaling and some very hard impossible to kill monsters are in areas you will walk past at the start of the game. If you see a red skull, chances are you won't win.
I've turned the difficulty down and can't figure out what the hell to do.
I remember banging my head against the wall trying to kill some kidnappers. Tried countless times to kill them and couldn't. Finally looked into it at they were a pile of levels over me and my weapons couldn't touch them.
Later in the game it was quite satisfying to go back a chop them to bits.
There are also some monsters that require bombs to help kill them. You will know what I am talking about when you die a pile of times and can't figure out why you can't keep the monster's HP down.
This isn't a run of the mill button masher. You do actually have to dodge.

And on that note, OP, level up the skill for dodging first thing. With 5 points, it completely nullifies all damage while you're dodging. Honestly, it makes it a bit too easy, but you seem to need it at the moment.

Use that quick tap dodge button a lot, u cant really just power through enemies on this game, more a dodge and then attack

Damn it's like OP has never played a video game before

quote:I agree. I'd played and beaten every souls game and it still took me a while to get used to the combat in this game. It's really not clunky at all. It's probably some of the most realistic combat in any game I've ever played and extremely momentum based. It takes a little bit to get used to, I can only imagine a casual gamer trying to adjust.
