Why is SE being so secretive regarding the Avengers game?

The game releases May of 2020, but all we have seen is a very short teaser with 2 seconds of gameplay. All actual gameplay is being seen behind closed doors.

That is a pretty long ways away. They just released the first real information of 7 remake and it comes out earlier.

one of the gameplay demo descriptions i read said that most of the animations clearly arent finished yet, except for the Hulk, which apparently looked pretty smooth and done.

That isn't that long from now in game development terms. Cyberpunk is a game coming out around the same time, and we started seeing gameplay screenshots and footage far earlier.

We've heard virtually nothing out of the Avengers game until this E3 where they gave us a release date and some in-engine cutscenes. Just being a contrarian here I guess in that I would've expected the game to be far enough along where they don't mind showing some gameplay footage to the general public.

Cyberpunk has been showing on and off for years. Did you have an idea of what it would look like when you first saw a trailer? Did it change recently?

Unless the devs are in an active beta test with a large group, I don't see a reason to show anything but a teaser.

Did you just choose to ignore the example I used from the same company?

There is nothing out of the ordinary with how they are handling this. Games a year away.

I get it but that's not a completely fair comparison. The gameplay they showed in that first trailer for FF7 back in 2015 was more than what we got for Avengers.

FF7 is an already established game. There's only so much they needed to change.

What? That gameplay was completely scraped. They restarted the development 3 years ago. What you saw this month was the first reveal.

side missions appear throughout the campaign and can be played cooperatively but not the campaign itself.

How big of a shitshow is this?
