Seems like a natural thing or Xmas sales.

Why don't more AAA games release in the summer months? Games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider would've sold more copies if not released during the busiest time of the year.

Most AAA titles release in late October thru late November for the holiday season. I'm sure they have the data to support when the best time to release a game is. That being said you would think that early December would fall into that category! Consumerism and market research is so interesting!

Release during October, get the initial big sales and then BAM Black Friday comes along as well as Christmas. It’s a triple whammy.

Because it's harder to produce the games later in the year, more logistical issues getting the games to stores, and you miss on the biggest shopping day in the world.
