Diamond Dynasty is by far the most fun Ultimate Team mode imo. It helps that you can get a whole lot of great cards for free by grinding as well.

Heard good things so thinking about buying. Have an idea where I turn GM contracts off and say I bought the Tigers and went on a spending spree and signed both Bryce and Manny.

First year playing. I’m starting to get my swings down. This is a game where I have to pay 110% attention to. Madden/2k I could get away being lazy and do stuff on my phone while playing. The show? Nope. I’ve caught myself browsing TD in between bats and what happens is that I’ll swing at a slider 5” off the plate when I do that

My team is at 80 overall. Have about 76k in Stubbs and not sure what to do to get more. I have a good bit of the challenges to do still. Had to take a break from 1st inning boss challenges because I was trying to hit Gossage with 75ovr players at the time.

How much did the gameplay improve from last year? Haven't gotten 19 yet, but was wondering if it's worth it to move up from 18?

Finally starting to see breaking balls well.

I take a lot of strikes down the middle but the payoff is that I’m sitting on balls outside the zone. My bat is coming around; I’m trusting contact swings more and going away from power swings. Having a blast playing BR. Think my newest strategy is to load up on hitters, with emphasis on speed in the outfield, and get some decent RPs. I don’t care much about SPs. Pitchers wear down so fast in this game mode that a full lineup of able bats have more pros than having a stud SP once every 3-5 games.

I’m trash though so idk

I saw that that OSFM full minors rosters were released. Anyone had a chance to download and give them a run yet?

My biggest problem is that I would swing at strikes no matter what.

I got good enough to draw several walks a game in online play if they didn’t throw in the zone, but I believe there is some coding that rewards patience.

So I always try to play my first 2-3 innings where I won’t swing no matter what until I’ve watched two pitches go by or have a two strike count.

Now if you’re playing scrubs this may not work. They pitch a lot different than good players, but I would recommend trying it out. Definitely be willing to ditch this method if your opponent realizes it and starts throwing two strikes no matter what though.

That’s really all this game is, is reading tendencies

Yeah you and I have the same approach at the plate. I’m new to The Show so I’m not as quick at realizing a 98 mph fastball coming down the pipe on the first pitch is actually going to do that.

I’d say 90% of the people I play, always throw a breaking ball low and away on the first pitch. Either that or a high and out of the zone fastball. So when I do get something on the first pitch that is in the zone, I’m usually not expecting it

Yeah, see I hate getting behind lol. I’d rather work the corners and try to get that first strike. If I get behind 1-0 I’m throwing a strike on my next pitch no matter what.

I also always sit high and tight fastball unless I’m a LHB facing a RHP or vice versa. then i’ll track the ball from their hand.

I do a lot of stupid shite on the mound as well like I’m not afraid to throw a high CB up in the zone every once in awhile. 95% of hitters will pop it up or will be frozen. Same with an changeup.

If you pitch realistically you will almost certainly get shelled against decent players.

Man it’s so satisfying to work an 0-2 count into a 3-2 count and then hit a homer.

It’s comparable for me to working the good user LBs over in M18 in online franchise. It’s like poetry. They think that slant route is where I’m throwing but instead I’m waiting for the late post and they took the bait.

Yeah they look great. I compared them to the Tigers prospects and looks like they put a lot of effort into the details

Jelly

I’ve pulled Edwin Diaz, Gerrit Cole, and Altuve as far as diamonds go. I’ve sold Diaz and I sold my deluxe Hernandez when they were still going for 20k. I did pull Gold Blake Snell who just got a Diamond upgrade. Wish a bought a few of him when I had the stubs when he was 5k. Can see him touching 10k soon.

I’ve pulled prob 115 packs... starting to think I’m better off at getting some stubs and flipping diamonds.

I was playing a BR game tonight, nursing a 1-0 lead, my opponent has Migual Sano on 1st, he hits a blooper with Yelich in-between my SS and LF. I have rookie Bryce Harper at LF. Barely doesn’t get under the hit, his throw into first actually goes to my 2B who isn’t looking for the ball... it goes flying into the stands in-between shallowing-ish 1B/RF. I’m screaming at my TV because I was outplaying this guy by sitting on bad pitches and making solid contact. Now is going to literally throw this game away. Sano and Yelich are running free. By the time my 1B recovers the ball, Sano is looking to score, about a quarter down the 3B line. My 38 arm str 50 acc 1b throws a DART to my catcher to JUST get Sano out. I then run up to Yellich and get the tag out

I thought he was going to get a walk off inside the park home run with Yelich to getting a miraculous two save to win the game. My decent fielder makes a shite throw meanwhile my shite fielder throws a Mahomes rope to home. My opponent shouldn’t be too upset. He was swinging at all of my pitches while they nosedived into the dirt. I wasn’t going to pull my starter but had bases loaded with 1 out when he came up to the plate.

Side note played Rookie Zack Greinke messed me up the other day. His 71mph curveball mixed with his fastball was impossible for me to read. That curve would sit about low center then drop into the dirt. Then when I sit on it, it’s his fast ball for the strike. I was dying a slow death.

I haven't played since 17. Do they still do the different versions of players? Like the classic versions from certain years.

At 31 years old, I somehow got hooked on youtube watching some dude play The Show and I bought a PS4 strictly to play this game. It's legit the first time I've played any video game in 10 years. And I freaking suck. Are there any tips out there of how to hit? It's incredibly difficult for me to distinguish between balls and strikes and if I do, it's too late and my swing is late. Or is it just a matter of practice? Only been playing for about a week and a half but haven't seemed to make much progress.

You’ll get used to it my man. It takes some time. I usually always take the 1st pitch in every at bat. The more pitches you see, the better you’ll be able to distinguish what’s a strike and what’s a ball. As far as timing, this is something I still struggle with a bit. You can just adjust the slider to make it a little more forgiving. If I were you I’d put it on dynamic difficulty for now also. This lets the game adjust the difficulty based on how you are playing. And don’t feel the need to power swing a lot. I only do it when I’m up like 2-0, 3-0, 3-1 in the count. You get plenty of home runs by just contact swinging.
