What's going on with destiny 2?

Giving the base game away to get people to play it now? What about those of us who bought the base game and the first expansion then were expected to pony up the cost of basically buying the game again?

Bungie is literally the worst, it's sickening
I have friends who are "Destiny fans" who loved the first game, were super mad with the original version of D2, hated the first couple expansions, and are now defending the completely average garbage that is Forsaken, defending Bungie, etc, it's just pathetic.

But seriously I saw the giveaway on my battle net launcher and then read up some on it. This is ridiculous

From what I read this weekend, it's the marriage with Bungie and Activision that's causing problems. Bungie wanted to continue the path they had established with 1, and Activision pushed for a more accessible game for newcomers. That dichotomy created a mess of a game and it seems to be an ongoing battle.

I enjoyed Forsaken until I got to the grind to unlocked that last city, and I completely fell off. Hearing the PL grind that's ahead of me just isn't appealing.

When the Activision COO says publicly they aren't happy with destiny 2 and bungie fires back publicly, it doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
In fact, reading the tea leaves it seems micro transactions are coming in a big way, more so than now

They haven't come out and announced anything officially but apparently Activision has promised increasing profits to shareholders and people have said they can only really do it through more micro transactions. Whether or not that means pay to win I have no idea

D1 was shite. Then it was good with the taken king or whatever. Then D2 was horrendous and never played anymore.

Activision got their hands on it and messed up EVERYTHING. essentially Activision made a comment in the quarterly earnings report that they were not satisfied with destiny 2, and wanted to look at rapidly increasing the player base quick and infusion of more "micro-transactions". Also doesn't help that Activision has been trying to expand the player base by catering to the casuals and turning their back on the hard core so theres no publicity on twitch. When the game isn't growing on it's own, they go to drastic extents to get people to play (giving it out for free). You'd think they'd look back at destiny 1 and try to emulate that success but here we are, destiny 2 year 2 and still stagnant.

Do you come on here and bitch every time a game you paid full price for goes on sale?
In the tech field you should expect prices to drop after a while and either you are fine paying full price to get it earlier or fine waiting for the discount.

I've actually liked Forsaken a lot. I'm ready to try the raid out but haven't had a chance to.
