Sega CD vs PSX vs GBA vs PSP
Posted on 10/24/19 at 9:49 am to BulldogXero
Sega CD is the original, the other 3 are all remakes of the original. And all are different as far as I know.
I played the PSX version along with part 2 when I was kid. I think I enjoyed those games.

Sega CD original hasn't aged well.
PS1 is the best version IMO.
The GBA one sucks. You can easily beat the game since saving completely restores HP/MP.
I've never played the PSP one but I know they updated the backgrounds and everything.

Did you reserve it and get the punching puppet?

I had both PSX games, and had the puppet. I believe I sold them on eBay in the early 2000s.
The game-breaking part of all of them, I think is that certain Bromides weren't available after a few key events in the game.
Kind of like the Stardust pieces in Legend of Dragoon.

1 is a top 5 JRPG but I never finished 2.

Sega CD
My favorite game of all time (but, DQ 8 and 11 have moved their way into that discussion). It really tugged at my heartstrings, back in high school.

PSX
A VERY GOOD remake of the Sega CD version, definitely a nice makeover and probably the best of the bunch.

GBA
Seems screwy, so I never played that one.

PSP
It's not bad, but not really sure why this even exists.
This is the last thread I thought I would find on this board, seriously

And I'm pretty sure it's random hidden battles for the SCD version, the rest you can see the enemies walking around the overworld.

Eh, I think you're being a bit harsh on it. It improves on the PS1 version of the game. It looks better, the music is better quality, and they added some QoL benefits.
They even fleshed out some of the dialogue and story to better explain things (benefit of better quality translations than anything else really).
ETA: Shocked that the Dude hasn't posted in this yet. I'm pretty sure he loves these games.

You might be right. I played it in pieces over about a 2 or 3 year period. I feel like the last time I played it, I just wanted to get it over and done with. Maybe my review didn't come from the right place

“I’m the Dude, so that’s what you call me. That or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino, if you’re not into the whole brevity thing.” The Dude just pops up when you least expect him, that's what I have found at least. He does seem like he's definitely played some Lunar though
It really is disgusting that we never got a Lunar 3, lots of rumors but nothing ever came about. I've been watching for translation updates on Magical School LUNAR! for the Saturn, it appears that some people have been working on it. No idea if we will ever actually see it though, as those translation efforts are pretty dang thankless! BUT, God Bless the people that actually go through with it!
Here's what little there is on it, in case you've missed it

Lunar Silver Star Story complete on PS1 was my shite! That was a really cool story.
Eternal Blue wasn’t all that great, IMO

I totally agree! It seems that a lot of others feel differently though. The majority of the gaming public think that EB is the better story though, and it appears on all of the greatest RPGS of all time lists and such. I never have been able to wrap my head around that.
