They said they will talk about project NX in 2016. My guess is it wouldn't release in 2016 but Nintendo is insane so who knows.

You don't think the biggest contributing factor to that is the game library? I mean look at the spike in sales when they released Mario Kart.

Mario Kart gave it a spike but not nearly enough. At this point the console isn't going to push much more than it does.

I don't think HL3 will be at E3 ever. Valve doesn't seem interested in conferences like this.

I wasn't serious

Youre right, it will never be announced at E3. I believe the game will be leaked by clues in other games or even HL2 much like Portal 2 was in Portal 1 with the radios.

I guess what I'm saying is there are fans of franchises that are willing to buy the console strictly for that one game but Nintendo doesn't seem interested in making those games.

you are talking about Zelda, the one game in Nintendo's lineup that is KNOWN to be the hardest to get out because their director is basically a complete a-hole to put it bluntly... it's just what it is

And Nintendo's stubborness is both frustrating a source of their creativity.

The Wii U needs a lot more than a spike. Their sales fate is pretty much sealed, and they realize that. They're focusing on their successful platform and getting ready for the NX.

No Man's Sky. The presentation was not all that different than what we have seen already.

In yalls opinion, what would the NX need to offer in order to compete with Sony and micro again?

More powerful hardware than current systems in order to still be competitive when future hardware comes out. How much more powerful will depend on if MSFT and Sony plan to stick with their 10 year model.

Unified account system with handheld.

Improved online infrastructure.

Quality 1st party titles.

3rd party multi plat support.

has been such a bane for them... ever since the GC they have basically given up on Multi-plat anything, because of the way the GC found no traction (might be because they had that stupid disk for the GC?!?!?!?!?!)

Their first party games are amazing, and each of them has a pretty big following that absolutely sells their console - but they can't come out with them fast enough to actually sell enough systems - less install base, means companies like FROM Software or Eidos / SE don't want to do exclusive games for them... because they will never be able to port the games over to anything else + the install base just isn't big enough to justify the creation of the game.

It's a catch 22, Nintendo is hurting, and the naming scheme for the WiiU didn't do them ANY justice this generation

This is a great start. I think that Nintendo needs to be close to PS5/Xbox4. It doesn't need to be more powerful, just able to get every third party title Sony/MS get.

They need to work a lot more with these developers and open up on information to assist with development. I know that tons of developers are freely able to source Naughty Dog and Sony Santa Monica for assistance.

Unified accounts are a requirement. Nintendo doesn't need to innovate the online experience, they just need to meet par set by their competition.

Lastly, I think it's important that they start very strong. A solid launch with good titles coming out in year 1 can set the tone for the rest of the generation.

I want EA to actually try to make their sports games good. Like FIFA and Madden are the only playable games in their own sports and they just coast because of lack of competition. NFL 2k5 is still better than any Madden ever. It's so annoying.

Highlights: Fallout 4, For Honor looks pretty cool too

The trend started with the N64 really. They pissed a lot of people off when they were top dog and then once Sony came around and offered another platform people didn't have to take their shite anymore. They never really adjusted after that.

Nintendo has stated they don't really see the big deal in showing everything at E3. I don't really agree with it but I do not ever expect them to blow everyone away at e3.

If they delivered all this the tide could quickly turn in the console wars IMO. If all the systems have relatively equally powered hardware and functionality, people will look at the exclusives. And Nintendo has by far the most valuable first party exclusives and it's not even close. The fact that they've managed to stay somewhat relevant with just those games is unreal

I'm not sure how important exclusives are these days.

If the hardware is all relatively close, then exclusives are what will decide which way people go.

Nintendo sells on exclusives alone. If they were even marginally competitive in the hardware market and had moderate 3rd party support they would be in a much better position.
