I just bought a copy of COD 4 on ebay tonight and my roommate claims there's a chance I won't be able to play it online. The reason he gives is that if the previous owner was caught hacking, "something" can happen that makes the multiplayer useless. I think he's full of shite, has anyone heard of this?

I'm sure the ban would be related to his PS3, not the disc itself. Just my thinking. I've never heard of the disc not being allowed.

ETA: I don't know why anyone would ever sell this game. I've had it since it came out, and I still play it almost daily.

yeah, that doesn't make any sense...if anything they would ban his PSN user id online or something...they can't ban actual game discs

The only console game I know of with an associated CD key/registration code is Final Fantasy 11 for 360.

I'm pretty sure all the "banning" is done on XBL because they're the party responsible for managing game play and internet load.
